| I have a variety of hobbies and interests. The most important of these are classical music appreciation, gardening, cooking, and travel. I have provided links to these below. I also like photography, playing Scrabble (used to play in a club but no longer do so), hiking, film (especially Indies and gay-themed), theater (subscribe to Court Theater in Chicago), art museums (belong to the Art Institute), collectibles (especially antique maps), and some other things as well. I belong to three organizations: Fairy Gardener's Guild is a gay/lesbian garden group here in Chicago. Windy City Gay Naturists is a local gay male nudist group. International Gay/Lesbian Hospitality Exchange provides hosting and visiting of members worldwide. (People stay in my guest bedroom.) I always try to be receptive to other people's interests. However, I must admit I am bored by spectator sports and most televsion, am terrified of roller coasters and am allergic to cats. Also, while I am inrestested in the subject of religion, I am not a religious person myself and do not appreciate being proselytized. Here are links to my favorites! Classical Music Gardening Cooking Travel I also showing visitors around the Chicago area. Besides the spots I've already mentioned, here are some of my favorite things to do in the area. (See the travel link above for more distant places). For hiking through the woods with the dog, I like to visit Moraine Hills State Park up in McHenry County. A bit far, but it is a nice place to go. For a slightly longer day trip, but well worth it, I like to go 100 miles to Starved Rock State Park in Utica, IL. Another day trip excursion of a different nature, best done on a summer weekend, is the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL. I first went there due to Rick's interest in trains, but I thoroughly enjoyed it myself! A bit closer to home, I enjoy taking visitors to the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio in Oak Park and the Bahai Temple in Wilmette. Other places I enjoy in Chicago include the Field Museum, the Mexican Fine Arts Museum, the Chicago Botanical Garden, and the Oriental Institute. While I'm not big on very high-end shopping, I like visiting the Gurnee Mills Shopping Center in Gurnee, where I usually can find a good bargain. |
