A spin on SMART Goals( From Minding your Own Business - A Ryze Network run by Denise O'Berry. 26/1/05 ) From Kimberly D. Wells ( Ryze Member) You may care to use the version I've developed: B - Barriers (what could potentially hold you back? Find out, and create a "plan B" ahead of time) E - bEnefits (what are the benefits of reaching your goal? What future opportunities will it set you up for?) S - Specific (what details are you not willing to compromise on? If you know exactly what your target is, it's easier to see which of your opportunities support it) M - Management system (how will you record/track your progress? What is your accountability?) A - Analyze your situation (know what you have to start with, and what you need to gain to succeed) R - Realistic (is your time frame realistic? Does this really move you forward? Is it YOUR true goal? Does your lifestyle support it? Does it improve your quality of life?) T - Time management (three important factors - a final deadline and intermittent deadlines, plan each of your to-do's right into your calendar, and work your plan EVERY SINGLE DAY ~Kimberly | |||||||||

Great stuff.... Most of us find good reasons for making goals....weight loss, more money, more education etc. etc. However most of us let the small stumbling blocks, like fear, negative responses to our ideas, get in the way. I have found that the "buddy system" works well in keeping me on track.
You call it "accountability"....this kind of mentoring will work for you if you allow it. I find that if I can team up with somebody that has similar activities planned for the day/week and we agree to stay in touch with each other on a pre-determined basis it "forces" me to be true to my activities. After all....when all is said and done, we need to be able to look in the mirror, and be able to say "I did all I could do for this period to accomplish my goals". " I was true to myself". Just some additional thoughts to a great post.
Cheers
Bob
