Each of us needs an Open Future
Sadly much of normal business practice works against that.
Michael Preiss, of Noscera, and a member of Ryze wrote to me in a private message. He said: "When push comes to shove, company executives rarely have the will or desire to do what must be done. ... Truth be known, too many people don't want to understand the true nature of the issues; they don't want to take the time to define the problem correctly. ... Much of the corporate world that excels in mediocrity. Companies don't really desire change, innovation and improvement - at least operationally - because it means pain, difficulty and possibly revenue implications."
That agrees with my own observation. The key in a corporate structure lies with the CEO and his/her senior associates. They have to create the future, and in today's world that's firstly a learning task, secondly a decision process and lastly a managerial process. If you don't know how to learn your future plays out inside a small box. If you can learn,  if the team can learn, the box can be made longer and wider and taller.

My Ryze Network - Veech Innovation
The future of the world is dependant on our ability to understand and use data.  Learning is that ability to process the data and derive meaning from it. Innovation is the process of understanding how the data should be used to the best effect. Innovation is the process of conceiving new ways to behave and new things to do. Learning and innovation are the keys to the future.
Innovative ideas arise from a complex mix if initiative and opportunity that meets a real need. My Veech Innovation Model, has five parts. The "P" identifies the innovation itself, or the product of the innovation. There are four essential factors that make innovation possible. The leadership that identifies the need and provides the energy to sustain the action. The right mix of ideas and data that makes the innovation effective. The resources that make production possible, people, tools, materials, cash, land and community services. Finally the users who in the first case encourage the development and who at a later stage pay for continued production if that is going to occur.
Innovative ideas arise best out of a hothouse of debate. The internet allows that hothouse to exist in your home or office. All you need to do is become an active participant. One of the best ways to help yourself to be a better thinker and to be more innovative is to keep a journal, workbook, or commonplace book. Record and reinforce key ideas. All real innovation takes a LONG time, so if you are going to be successful get started soon. Please feel free to join the Veech Innovation Network.
