Forgotten Heroes

Try to remember

The days we spent together—

Endless yet numbered

Time seemed to mock us

As it slowly danced on by,

Sooner than we thought

Forever staring,

Our faces burned an image

Leaving tales behind

Each its adventure—

That which all cannot be told.

Our names will be lost.

What will happen then

When you are no longer there

To tell our stories?

Do they all dry out,

Like towels in the hot sun

Hung up on a line?

Remember! Try hard!

I sing this for the soldier,

Lost cause’s hero.

Play not the music;

Yet the dance continues on,

Enthralling victims
