BROCK'S POKEMON

Since his debut in Episode 5 ("Showdown in Pewter City"), Brock has had the following Pokemon:

#37: Vulpix

First Appearance: Episode 28 ("Pokemon Fashion Flash")
Leaves: Episode 169 ("Beauty and the Breeder")

Vulpix is probably Brock's favorite Pokemon. Suzie, the manager of a Pokemon Salon, raises it with the greatest of care. Team Rocket attacks her views on Pokemon breeding, and Brock, Ash, and Misty battle them to stop their evil schemes. Impressed with Brock's battle skills, she gives Vulpix to him. Vulpix uses fire attacks and usually incinerates its enemies with one hit. Brock loves his Vulpix very much, it being the first Pokemon he worries about when Pokemon thieves like Team Rocket are around.

#41 and 42: Zubat/Golbat

First Appearance: Episode 6 ("Clefairy and the Moon Stone")
Evolves: Golbat: Episode 165("Hassle in the Castle")

Zubat is the first Pokemon that we see Brock catch, but we don't get to see the actual catch at all. Ash, Misty and Seymour the Scientist run into Mt. Moon while Brock catches a Zubat, which he later uses to help Ash's Butterfree fight Team Rocket. Zubat is perhaps the most underused Pokemon in the entire TV show, even more underused than Misty's Goldeen. Zubat fights in two or three more episodes, and in those episodes it loses. It evolves into Golbat later on in the Johto League, and even later, it evolves to Crobat.

#74: Geodude

First Appearance: Brock has Geodude in his debut episode (Episode 5, "Showdown in Pewter City")

Geodude is a rock-type used by Brock. It is very strong and can pick up heavy rocks. Its rock-hard body is tough for Pikachu to beat when Brock and Ash fight, but it is soon beaten by a very powerful Thunder Bolt (which, in my opinion, is humanly impossible because rock-type Pokemon like Geodude have an advantage over electric-type Pokemon like Pikachu). Brock uses this Pokemon as the fighting Pokemon in Episode 29, ("The Punchy Pokemon") but it loses to a Hitmonlee stolen by Team Rocket.

#95: Onix

First Appearance: Brock has Onix in his debut episode (Episode 5, "Showdown in Pewter City")

Onix is a really big Pokemon. As one of the largest Pokemon in the world, at 28'10", it is very strong in battle. Ash fights Onix in the Pewter City Gym and cannot beat it. Then, when the sprinklers turn on due to a fire started by Pikachu's Thunder Bolt, Onix is weakened by the water. However, instead of taking advantage of this freak occurance, Ash walks away and vows to come back another day. This is why Brock joins Ash and gives him the Boulder Badge. Brock's Onix is entered in the race in Episode 33, ("The Flame Pokemon-athon") but it is too heavy to cross the lily-pad lake. This was kind of unfair, because the race is obviously designed so rock-type Pokemon can't win. There is a special Onix, the Crystal Onix, which a glass sculptor in the Orange Islands goes to for inspiration. It is perhaps the strongest and rarest Onix of them all.

#204: Pineco

First Appearance: Episode 143 ("Goin' Apricorn")

Pineco is a bug-type Pokemon caught in a mountain where the "Apricorn" seeds are supposed to be. Ash and the gang are sent to a mountain by Kurt, the Poke Ball Maker in Azalea Town, to get these seeds so that he can make them some custom Poke Balls. Brock encounters one and decides to catch it! This is the first Pokemon he's caught in a while (well, being absent during almost the whole Orange League season to assist Professor Ivy doesn't help...), as well as the first Gold and Silver Pokemon he has ever caught. Pineco uses an Explosion attack as well as other attacks like Tackle, Take Down and Double-Edge.
