Behaviour

The two courses covering module 'a' of the Kennel Club Scheme aim to ensure a broad base to enhance knowledge of dogs, show understanding of human and canine psychology, show recognition of limitations of professional advice, show appreciation of constructive teamwork in the best interests of the dog, and promote responsible dog ownership. Although not essential, it is recommended that part one is taken before part two. Dog Behaviour - Part One A1 Organisations within the dog world A2 Legal responsibilities A4 Living with dogs A5 Dog behaviour The emphasis during this course is on dog behaviour and is designed to give a sound understanding of how and why dogs do what they do. Essentially a theory only course which sets the scene for anyone contemplating a career in canine behaviour therapy and training. Dog Behaviour - Part Two A6 How a dog learns A7 Behaviour problems A8 Training the handler A10 Projects This course begins where part one left off, most of the emphasis will be on dog behaviour problems and their treatment. Again a theory only course but the perfect accompaniment to the practical course available at the centre. |
