John "the boss" Coley's first monthly review
Tim has been involved in a variety of
projects and activities during the past month, including:
- Researching and resolving commission payment discrepancies
reported by Agents. In this activity Tim quickly learned how to navigate
through, and use, several different corporate applications.
- Assisting a staff analyst in gathering data for use in a
special financial analysis being prepared for senior management. Again, Tim
quickly grasped the nuances of an in-house profitability reporting application
used for this purpose.
- Cleared a backlog in recording and summarizing exceptions to pricing policy, for use in a report to senior management.
- Preparing miscellaneous
spreadsheets to assist staff analysts in various projects.
All of the staff that Tim has worked with have found him to be conscientious
about completing his assignments, and to be an extremely fast
learner.
John's second monthly review
Tim has continued his work in support of the commissions area, investigating and adjusting numerous payment questions and errors. In addition, for the past few weeks Tim has been heavily involved in analyzing and reconciling various payment disputes between Highmark and one of our significant Agency vendors. This is a nonrecurring type of project, so Tim had little previous documentation to follow. In addition, there are literally hundreds of transactions to be sorted thru and compared. Despite these roadblocks, Tim was able to reconcile the first month for which this was attempted, to the penny. Tim has shown himself able to quickly grasp assignments and concepts, even those that are not within his particular area of study. He is very conscientious (thank God for spell check here) and is a very hard worker. Overall, Tim has been a very valuable asset to the department this summer.
My first monthly review
During my first month at Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield I have completed a number of tasks. My main objectives are working with the agent commissions system. One of my duties is to ensure the payment of missed commission to agents responsible for selling insurance. In order to complete this assignment I must check every commission request to make certain that it is indeed unpaid. From there we enter the necessary data into a problem log in order to be double checked by a senior team member before the commission is actually paid. I also frequently check up on logged requests to guarantee that they were resolved. I am also responsible for setting up commission for agents who have sold to a new group or taken over part or sole liability for an existing group.
Aside from these two main tasks I also contribute my time to assisting other areas within the corporation with miscellaneous job functions. These functions include: creating and modifying spreadsheets, searching databases, making copies, filing paperwork and many other tasks.
This past month has definitely been a very beneficial opportunity for me. Highmark has a great training and welcoming program that makes every employee feel like part of the team. Highmark requires all employees to take many different courses such as customer commitment, privacy and security, brand compliance and desktop tools. Not only have I learned a great deal about health insurance and commission thus far, but I have also gained knowledge about how large corporations operate and how to work as part of a team, which will assist me wherever I end up in the future.
