D.J. is fascinated by motor vehicles of all kinds. He does not want to miss anything that is happening on the road, and one time we almost lost him because of it. We were in the freeway carpool lane headed to "Bark Park" in Costa Mesa, and traffic was only moving at about 10mph. We had the windows down so the dogs could breathe better, when all of a sudden I noticed out of the corner of my eye D.J. going out the window after something! When he finally realized that he did not want to leave after all, it was too late and he could not stop himself from falling out, and it happened too fast for me to grab him. I could picture the back tire of my car running him over at any second, but somehow we missed him. I looked in the mirror and saw him wandering in circles with cars honking and the people inside waving and talking to him as they passed! I pulled over, and Ayako went after him, but she didn't need to. He ran as fast as I have ever seen him run straight into her arms. From then on, we rode with the windows at least 3/4 up.
