An Open Treasure Box |
Description of my livingroom and bedroom.
Each home is full of treasures to the people who live in it. Every part of the house is special -- the dining room, where people gather to eat; the living room, where families sit to talk and watch TV; the bedroom where people study, sleep, and pray. The items that make up these rooms make them special. Even if it’s subtle, these things give the home a pleasing power for those who live in it, but a person must first look for beauty to find it. The treasures in our home make our living room and my own bedroom charming.
First, the family living room is inviting. The blue carpet is short, soft, and clean enough to walk barefoot on. In one corner of the living room is a tall wooden apple blossom tree with a rough thin trunk and hundreds of soft pink flowers. On two opposite walls are big clear mirrors that seem to stare back at whoever is looking into them. On the wall opposite the apple blossom tree two tall windows with lacy green drapes. They offer a captivating view of trees swaying in the wind and people walking by. Opposite the windows is a green couch with three soft cushions. It’s companion is beneath one of the mirrors next to the apple blossom tree - a matching loveseat, big enough to lay and go to sleep on. For sitting on the big couch, to the left of the windows, is the main attraction of our living room: a big 27" TV with digital cable and a VCR, where you can see and hear whatever you senses desire. Our living room a lure to the weary, offering hours of rest.
More important to me than the family living room is my own bedroom, upstairs. It has decorations that reflect my own personality. The whole place is shaped like a long rectangle, sectioned off three into brown wooden rooms. The center room has a smooth white tiled floor. It's big enough to hold a soft big recliner and a glass table. For a person facing my door, to the left is a blue tasseled blanket I brought back from Honduras on the wall. For someone facing the stairs, my study room would be on the right behind a light wooden door. To the left would be my personal living room. Here, the floor holds a smooth gray and white lambskin rug. If someone were to turn and face this room, a calm aquarium would be seen in the far right corner. It is blue, purple, and white, holding delicate angelfish. The gentle sound of bubbles is always fills the air. There are also shining colorful CDs decorating the center of the wall that my fish tank occupies. On four walls are each of the shinny new quarters for each state, in neat rows. Also, arranged on the walls and on the computer desk are more than 25 computer chips. Some are smooth and black with lots of tiny legs; others are long and green with flat silver teeth. The whole environment is like an outlet of my imagination.
My personal living room is not limited to only decorations, since it has a wealth of cool gadgets inside as well. Opposite the corner which holds my fish tank is a 19 inch black Television sitting in the center of a wooden card table. Atop the TV is a VCR which holds a Genesis, Sega CD, and Nintendo game system. On the left of my TV is a Sony playstation and on the right is a Super Nintendo. There are black stringy cords everywhere! Between the fish tank and the TV stand, there is a stereo system with a Sony 5 disc CD changer beneath it. It's two spread apart speakers are powerful enough to shake the whole house. Under the Stereo is a large assortment of tapes, cassettes, CDs, and video games. Everything is setup neatly on three long brown shelves with three additional short shelves on each side. Altogether, there are 9 wooden open shelves each inviting someone to entertain their senses with it’s contents. For someone facing my living room from the center room or hallway, the main attraction of would be seen in the nearby right corner. It is my Pentium 90 Internet computer on a large straight-edged wooden desk. The white monitor or screen is 17 square inches large with one tall white speaker standing on each side. To the left is a white Epson ink jet printer. Beneath the monitor is a wooden drawer which opens to reveal a white keyboard and mouse. Under the desk sits my computer tower, once again the color of a bright cloud. For a person facing my computer, the most longed for of all my treasures each day is directly behind. It is a welcoming bed, covered with a silky black sleeping comforter, several soft, warm covers, and a long pillow as soft as cat’s furry back. All of these things provide a reason to stay in my room for hours each day.
The large treasurebox that is our home glitters brightest to the eyes of those who live within it. Although a treasurebox is often locked, the most beautiful strings of silver and gold for me can be found right out in the open, in our family living room and my bedroom. Every home has treasures same, but not everyone realizes the power that they have. To notice the beauty of these treasures only takes a moment of reflection.
