5/16/05

I'm staying with P&J Kerschner at their Pawleys Island Home. I arose at 5:30am and made coffee before heading to the beach. When I arrived there the Sun was already above the horizon. I snapped a picture and started walking south along the coast. I walking about half a mile and enjoying the clouds in the sky from a storm that had moved off the coast. The tide was low and the beach was very smooth, as there were not very many people out this morning. Shells were few, but their were many jellyfish and sea plant remains.

I returned to P&J's around 7am and tried downloading my beach picture without any luck. Maybe "J" can get it to work later.

I am now waiting on "P" to get ready so we can go out and look for the proper notched trowel to spread the glue for her new floors that I am going to install in the coming days...

It's now later... 10pm. "P" and I made it to Lowes and found our trowels and several other items that were on our "To Get" list. Also made a lengthy stop at the grocery, so it was after 2 by the time we got home and had lunch.

At 3pm "J" and I started unloading and moving furniture in their Carolina Room. When the room was cleared we cut the carpet into strips and rolled it up for disposal at the local recycling and refuse center. It was 5 by then, but rather than quit, I mixed a batch of mortar and laid 35 twelve inch ceramic floor tile. It took me about an hour to lay them.

After being cloudy and rainy all day, the Sun popped out just as I was cleaning up my tools. "P" was making dinner, but I excused myself and headed for the beach. The beach was nearly deserted due to the weather and the ocean too cold for swimming. I decided to take a long stroll and walked to the south end of Pawleys Island. Due to it being low tide, I was treated to a VERY wide expanse of sand created by the interaction between the ocean and the creek. I found a complete Rough Pen Shell there, which I donated to "P's" collection, since she needed one.

I rounded out the day with a nice dinner of "P's" Caesar's Salad and tuna salad on chips and got to talk with my family back home.

As to the beach picture from this morning, it got accidentally deleted when I tried to get it downloaded. I'll just have to try again tomorrow...
