| 6. The Island
Oil on canvas, 2000. 57 x 135 cms |
| The rubble wall, reminds me of the piles of skulls in the great massacares in history. Each stone could be the spirit of a maltese past or present. The man made fields and bastions are all witness to human toil and passing. The rocks and strata showing the layers of time in geology and human history. The top part is our island held up by the depths of the sea.
The depiction of the knights and foot soldiers in Coastal Tower is a forerunner of this depiction. |
