Nick knew it would be hard adjusting to a new life around him.  He just didn’t know it would involve him having to leave his sister and Lady Denise.  He really didn’t want to be given over to Bethany Opanheimer considering what she did to his baby brother but it was his sister’s doing and he couldn’t go against her wishes.

 

What he did know was that he wasn’t hers permanently.  Or at least that was what his sister, Lady Lisa, said when she agreed for a one month trade.  After that one month he was to be returned in the same condition given, which made him feel like a piece of cattle that was being sold at auction.  He guessed it had a lot to do with his moping around not long after the birth to Lady De’s child.  He had tried to talk it over with Kevin and Howie but neither was all that willing to listen to him whine about how that kid should have been his and not Justin’s.

 

 

When he went to his sister he found out that she was bedridden until delivery in fear of loosing the baby again.  This brought out all the slaves to dought on her hand and foot.  Especially Kevin since he is her husband.  Nick even spoiled her rotten since she was caring his niece or nephew.  Not to say that Arry wasn’t part of the family but she really didn’t look too much like a Carter.

 

Subsequently that’s how the trade happened.  His sister finally got fed up and had word sent to Beth that she could have Nick for one month on several conditions.  She wasn’t to engage in any sexual activity with him and he wasn’t to be used for breeding with any of her slave girls.  In fact treat him like he was a eunuch. He is do hard labor and nothing else.  When he heard those words he knew it would be a long month.

 

 

He also knew by the time he would return Lady De and her slaves along with the baby will have returned to her home to be welcomed into the family properly.
