Hello and welcome to The Official Johnny Whitaker Website. Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Noreen and I am the webmistress of this site.
I'd like to take this place in cyber-space to tell you about myself and why I feel so privelidged to be able to bring you this website...I suppose I should start at the beginning....
Many years ago...more years than I care to admit, I was sitting in front of a television screen and watching a pilot to a new television series. That series was Family Affair! It introduced me to a little boy, Johnny Whitaker, who I would adore all through my childhood and into my teens.
I would watch this show faithfully and sometimes you could have found me sitting there holding my Mrs. Beasley doll (which I still have) and saying..."Mommy...that little boy is so cute!"
I suppose I always had a weakness for redhead's with blue eyes...between Johnny Whitaker and Lost In Space's Billy Mumy, I was in heaven!
I can remember sitting in a movie theater weekend after weekend watching Tom Sawyer...to this day it remains one of my top 10 favorite movies.
When I was 13, other girls were spending their Saturday mornings sleeping in late or playing sports, but not me...I spent my Saturday's watching my favorite redhead and the adorable Sigmund come into my home via my tv set.
So you see....this isn't just some passing thing...it's a childhood dream that has finally come to pass!
So you've heard all about my watching John grow up during my years of watching him on the small and large screen...but still...where does the webmistress thing come in? I'll tell you...
A few years back I'd read that the Sid & Marty Krofft boys were doing an autograph show here in New York City. I jumped at the chance to meet Johnny Whitaker...afterall...I still had most of the things I'd collected on him from all those years ago, plus added a few things in the process.
I found John to be very sweet and personable. He truely took an interest in the fact that I'd had this childhood crush on him. I left the signing with a very good feeling about him...hoping that someday our paths would cross again.
That someday would come...a few years later...
At Chiller Con, here in my home state of New Jersey, I was formally introduced to him through a mutual friend. He was charming and witty and made me feel very at ease, not to mention, made me blush uncontrollably! It was a wonderful weekend of getting to know my new friend, and during one conversation, I found out that John had seen the website that I program for our mutual friend, Linda Blair. I teased John saying that I would have done his site, but someone already did, and he offered me the chance to become the webmistress of his official site...I was thrilled and eagerly accepted.
Since this time, I have had the pleasure of getting to know more about John the person, instead of Johnny the actor. John is a true gentleman who is charming and funny, and someone I'm proud to call my friend.
It is with this affection that I dedicate my time and efforts in producing and updating this site to my dear friend, John Whitaker...getting to know you has been one of life's greatest journey's...may it never end!
