"My Poem Which Has No Name"
By: Senor Hola
Dedicated to Senor Adios
One day, when I was sore depressed,
An envelope to you addressed,
I placed inside my grey mailbox,
And dreamt of all our many talks.
I missed your smile; I felt alone,
I thought to call you on the phone,
But something from down deep within,
Cried out with "no," and "no" again.
Withdraw, did I, the letter sealed,
And threw its pieces in the field.
I felt such pain; the tears did flow,
As wind blew shreads, both high and low.
The stamp blew back and hit my face,
I hid my eyes in such disgrace,
But suddenly, I felt much better,
I thought, "I'll write another letter."
My spirit soared; I ran to write,
I felt my soul take off in flight,
Only to feel my pain return,
For pen and paper my heart yearned.
I searched, and searched, and searched some more,
None on the table, bed, or floor.
I started to near my wit's end,
I longed to say, "You are my friend."
I sank into a pit of woe,
My spirits had never been so low,
My heart sank deep inside my chest,
I knew I'd done my very best.
But then I saw a tablet small,
To the desk I began to crawl.
Though far apart, our friendship's true,
That's why I wrote this poem for you.
