| Things that have made me go "hmmm" |
| Dear Friends, have you ever noticed someone on the street who either looked odd or behaved strangely, and then you just keep seeing them all the time after that? Yes, I, JOHNNYLEEN, have encountered someone who haunts me, although I have to admit that I haven't seen her in about a week. I shall call her Poodle Woman. "Why?" you may ask. Well, I'll tell you. The first time I ever saw her, she was traipsing down the sidewalk in a blue silk blouse with a matching barette in her hair. However, the barette was not at the side of her head to keep her hair out of her eyes, but rather it was fastened directly in the front like a ribbon on a poodle. Her hair was permed so it had that froo-froo appearance that poodles often have, so that just added to the similarity. That first time I just dismissed it all as an oddity, but I began seeing her quite often after that. Each time she was wearing a barette that matched her shirt, and the barette was always in the middle of her hair just above her forehead. It's all I can do to keep from laughing because it's so poodley-looking! So I just have to wonder if she has a barette collection that matches all of her ensembles. Does she go to Ann Taylor and pick out shirt and barette combos? Does she have a secret stash of chewtoys and rawhide bones at her house? It's just one of those sights that make you go "hmmmm". JOHNNYLEEN certainly does encounter his share of characters. Once I was sitting in a park waiting to meet a friend of mine for din-din. This guy sat down on the bench beside me and said, "So what brings you out today?" And I answered, "I'm meeting a friend of mine for dinner and arrived a bit early, so I'm just waiting." Being the sharing sort he then turned to me with out-stretched finger and said, "Wanna booger?" At which point JOHNNYLEEN lept up and exclaimed, "You know, if I leave right now, I'll reach the restaurant just in time!" I didn't know whether to be touched by his generosity or offended by his assumption that I would eat a booger. Go to important matters Go back home |
