| Dear Friends, JOHNNYLEEN is snowed in! Now how unfantabulous is that? I really don't mind walking in the snow, but even Ye Olde Watering Hole is closed. Now what kind of dedication to alcoholic clientele is that, I ask you? Last night JOHNNYLEEN stayed over at a party 25 miles away with the intention of getting up early and driving home before snow started. Unfortunately snow must have started right when I went to bed, because it was easily 5 inches when I woke up around 7:15. Well, JOHNNYLEEN immediately pictured his dear kitty, Gunhilda, yowling her head off as she starved to death. So I went leaping into the car and started the 25-mile trek home. I finally got to my apartment building around 10:00 and immediately got stuck trying to go up the driveway. Can you believe that? All that way only to get stuck in the driveway! Back in the late 80's and early 90's when JOHNNYLEEN had a Ford Escort, he could zip all over the place. But the Mazda just pushes snow up in front of it. I just don't know what it is with these new car designs where the hood is as low as it can possibly be without becoming a bulldozer, and the trunk is way up in the air like it wants to mate. I got stuck because I was pushing snow with the car like I was trying to build the world's largest snowman. So I went into the building, grabbed a shovel and started shoveling. Soon a guy and his wife came out and helped. Then some more people joined us and soon we had the driveway clear and a spot cleared out for me to park. Now, since I'm from the Souf', I asked the guy, who happens to be from Wisconsin, if he would manouver my car up the hill into the parking space, which he did. I was ever so grateful; a regular Blanche DuBois who has always relied upon the kindness of strangers (although I actually know him and his wife). So after all that shovelling I said to myself, "JOHNNYLEEN, you hardly broke a sweat during all of that. You are in excellent shape! Therefore you can skip exercising today and just goof off!" Excellent advice! I had coffee, played with Gunhilda, and napped until 4:00 p.m.! So here I am not having shaved or showered, drinking a beer, and writing to all of you, my Beloved Readers. Which is really bad, mind you, because I had curry for dinner last night and probably smell like a Calcutta alley. Next entry Previous entry Go to diary entries Go back home |
