Johnny grew up in central Florida and since he could hold a crayon in his
hand he has been creating. Instead of crayons, Johnny now uses a variety of mediums
including: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Oil Pastel, Soft Pastel, Colored Pencil, Graphite
and many other mediums. Now at the age of 25 he wishes to futhur his career as an
artist. Still residing in Florida he works on comissions and many
original works out of his home studio.
Johnny has recieved many awards for
his art. In forth grade he was the only student selected out of seven schools in
central Florida to recieve the best artist award. In 1992 he entered Our Finest:Polk
County Student Exhibition out of the 41 schools Johnny was only one to recieve the
honor of having his art displayed on the front cover of the shows program, fliers,
and posters, and also recieved the certificate of recognition. Next he dominated
the Burdines 1992 Scholastic Art Awards, again his art was displayed on the front
cover of the program and recieved two certificates of merit, two blue ribbon finalists,
two gold keys of achievement and the hallmark nominee ribbon. He entered the Young
American Creative Patriotic Art Awards Contest going before state judges he took
first place.
In 1993 he entered the Ridge Art Associations Young People's
Art Contest. Over twenty schools had entered and Johnny left with the honors of
portfilio winner and best of show. Next he recieved a certificate of recognition
from the Florida Department of Education for participating in the Florida State Fair
Art Exhibition. Then he enetered the Creative Youth 1993 Twelfth Congressional District
Competition leaving with a certificate of recognition and second place.
In
1994 Johnny traveled around a bit expanding his horizons on the world entering into
Ashville North Carolina's Finest Artist Exhibition at Broadway Arts Gallery and left
with the only special award given for the entire show. After Johnny decided to take
a break from the shows to build more on his art rather than competition. He entered
college and learned a few tricks.
Eventually returning home to Central Florida
Johnny's back in the action and even better this time around he holds his own shows.
He has recently been shown in the newspaper as he helped close friends build their
dreams of having their own Art Store where he now display's his current works.
It's the only full line art supply store in the area, it's called Masterpiece Art
Supplies in Clearwater. Event magazine called Johnny "a gifted young artist
with a vison of his own."
Johnny hopes that this site will inspire, provoke
thought, and move you. As an artist, Johnny's work is one of a kind. Johnny behind
the art: he loves to cook, surf, hunt for fossils, and play guittar. It's difficult
to keep him indoors especially when it's nice outside.
