| Music Land | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Music is really important to me. I think one's personality can be partly determined by what the listen to. For instance I have a friend who listens to the Bloodhound Gang hours upon hours, and he's a total goofball (and a tad perverted). And then I have a friend who is a big fan of Dido, and she is very calm, cool, and pleasant. Me, well i listen to a lot of different stuff (including the stuff mentioned above), so I guess you can say that I'm very versatile. This section is for me to basically rant or praise about a different band every week. So, once a week a new singer will have a some sort of review. Obviously the band i talk about are one's that I have a cd of, so Im not talking out of my ass. In other words, im not gonna be making judgements on a band based on hearing a single on the radio or on MTV (unless its really good or the cd hasn't come out yet.) So, check this page every week for a new band!! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Filter | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| When i went camping recently, my aunt, me, my sis and cousin were going through all of my cds alphabetically trying to agree on which to listen too. It wasn't intil we cam upon Filter that we agreed on something. mY aunt hadn't heard of them before, and my sis and cousin like that "picture" song. I was very indifferent. in fact I had forgotton that I even had that cd. So we pop it in and everyone quietly listens to the cd for an hour. And boy.... my love for this band reblossomed/ I had forgotten why I had liked the band in the first place. In fact some of the songs on the "title of record" I didn't even like when I heard them a couple of years ago, and now i love them. In fact i love the whole cd. every song. So Filter is a rock band. Some of their stuff can be hardcore, especially in their new album, "The Amalgamut." (which is why i like "TOR" a tad better) But I realized "that picture song" is my favorite one. I just get lost in the song i suppose. it starts off mellow and builds up. so Filter is one of my fav bands. Not that many people know this actually. huh. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Relient K | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| July 5 - | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Whenever I think of Christian music, Amy Grant comes to mind. Either her or those commercials you see at night for those really gospel heavy song or folky songs with a large crowd holding up their hands toward God, I suppose. Well I was never a fan to that stuff. And neither is my friend Chelsea. She is still into Christian music, just not the kind I thought existed. And that little intro brings us to Relient K. Now I had never heard of them untill Chelsea gave it to me to review, because for some reason she enjoys this page and think I review stuff well. Ummmm..... sure. So she handed Relient K to me. Now, the first thing I noticed was that it sounded a lot like either Sum 41 or Blink 182. They're no Amy Grant. Which is good. But now Im not that religious so I wasn't expecting some of the christian lyrics coming from a blink 182 sound alike. but they were there. And you know what? you dont really notice them in some song if your not looking for it. So that's good if for some reason you dont like religious music, I suppose. Im indifferent. as long as it has a good beat, which much of it does, it's alright with me. I will admit that on some songs its dealt a tad heavy handedly, but so what. They're pretty punk. sorta like the P.O.D in the punk world. (another Chistian band? did you know that? probably.) But of course there is so much more to the band than their beliefs. there is a song about an old cartoon, and another one about the sadie hawkins dance. It's very high school, sorta. so to sum it up, it a chistian band who like to have fun and have a good beat. like I siad. Waaaay better than Amy Grant. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Dashboard Confessional | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| June 22 - | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Okay. Dashboard is cool and pretty deep. He (the band is only one person) reminds me of Duncan Sheik a lot, who I also. D.C i a lyric person. Sometimes there isn't that much of a beat or rythm but that's because he is more concerned with the song itself. He gets really into the music I guess and is, like I said, all about the lyrics and messages. It's sorta like hearing a journal I suppose. But I need to be in the mood for it cuz Im a rythm and beat person. But I do still really like him. I don't know, like always I'm bad at reviewing and selling something. If any of you have MTV2 then check out the D.C. Unplugged show, which I hear is really good. Too bad I don't have it.. Alright on to faves... Faves on The Places You Have Come o Fear The Most - Track 2 - Screaming Infedelities Track 3 - The Best Deceptions Track 6 - The Good Fight Track 8 - Again I Go Unnoticed |

| DJ Shadow | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| June 13 - | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Okay. I've been ranting about him all week so now I have to live um to it. Basically, you can not stop yourself from bobbing you head when listening to him. He's a really good DJ. You do need patience with him because the songs can be like 7 minutes long and they need to build up. So the first couple of minutes may seem boring to (a stupid person). But once it does build up, ugh It's friggin great. The bass on one song is kickin. and another reminds me (and others) of the Blue Man Group. which reminds me I should give some credit to B-Boy who introduced me to it. So thanks to him. But the beats on some of these song are incerdible. I know I really suck at this but trust me. take a gander at this DJ Fave songs on "The Private Press" - track 4 - Walkie Talkie track 6 - Six Days track 8 - ........ Meet His Maker track 13 - You Can't Go Home Anymore |

| Music Rant | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| May 12 - | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Instead of a band or singer this week I just want to stop and rant on the status of music right now. (sorry to the 2 pple that ever come to this page) Basically Music is in a turning point. Stupid Bubble Pop is finally leaving the US scene. Wave goodbye to Britney and christina. No more Boy bands. ....But what will take their place. I've been thinking about that lately. Sometimes it looks like it'll be the return of the singer/songwriter who actually plays an instrument. Alicia Keys is only the tip of the iceberg. (sorry for using that overused phrase. couldn't think of any other way of putting it) Now they are girls like Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, and guys like John Mayer. White Stripes is gaining popualrity too (heck they're playing at the MTV Movie Awards). This is all sorta old news to Britain where David Grey and Dido come from and have been popular for years. Rap is also sorta changing too. Im not sure how though, cuz im not a rap guy, but I've been finding it more tolerable. (Im liking Busta's new song, pass the Couvarcia...or something...) I dont know. I find myself liking the stuff that is out there more and more. Plus next september I'll finally venture off to college where I'll learn of the underground, which is something that seems like a million miles away from Cape Cod. So there I'll find new bands that I'll really like and then turn on them once they hit it big and I'll call them a sell out, all because they aren't underground anymore. (no I wont, but that's seems to be the mentality of "the underground") I think I'm gonna try to see what the college radio station is like at Framingham and maybe get a job there. I could see myself being a dj. hell, even a MTV VJ. But that's thinking way too far ahead. I'll just aim for MTV2. K, thats it. hehe, I found this to be fun. I might just do this again sometime. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Unwritten law | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| May 4 - | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I recently discovered this band and they're really good, I think. (ok im tired so im gonna copy a synopsis of them off of MTV.com. Ah leave me alone.) "Unwritten Law triumphs over convention and mediocrity with their new album combining intricate melodies, raw egde sincerity, and ancient Egyptian mysticism.The lyrics are empowering with their wisdom and introspection and the music is overwelming with it's harmmony, ferocity, and virtuosity. Scott says that 'felt that if we made music we were happy with ourselves, than everybody else would be happy with it. People call us punk, but we're really just 90's Rock & Roll.'" huh? ummmm...... just go buy their record. Fave songs on "elva" - Track 2 - up all night Track 5 - Blame on Me Track 6 - Seein Red Track 11 - Actress, Model..... |

| Phantom Planet | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| April 24 - | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Okay, I only just got the cd today. But still I already really like the cd. The band is also known as "that band with that dude from Rushmore." That's in regard to Jason Schwartzman (hehe, "use the schwartz!!" hehe, I really need a Spaceballs fix.) anyway, Rushmore is the best movie ever bye the way......but i shouldn't be talking about that. Ah, ye the band. it's pretty darn good. sorta punk sorta pop-ish and sorta rock. but good. Thier first single "Califorina" is working up the charts and is getting rotation on MTV2. They did a really good cover of "Somebody's Baby" by the way. Im getting a mind blank of who originally sang it but.............yeah. Just go buy their cd. Fave songs ------ Better Off Somebody's Baby Fav songs on "Guest" Track 1 - California Track 4 - One Ray of Sunshine Track 5 - Anthem Track 10 - Over Again |

| Cake | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| No, not the moist dessert, but the band, silly. Cake is a little hard to describe. You sort to have to listen to them to understand them. I guess they're alternative.... but they're not. Grrrrr. They're in they own genre I guess. The lyrics are really wild and random sometimes, which is always a plus. Sometimes I cant tell if the lead singer, John McCrea, is singing or talking. But thats ok, cuz they're cool. Just go buy one of their cd's cuz I'm really not doing them any justice, obviously. Fave Song - The Distance (Nate's theme song) Fave songs on "Comfort Eagle" - track 2 - Meanwhile, Rick James..... track 4 - Short skirt/ Long jacket track 7 - Comfort Eagle track 9 - Love You Madly |

| April 5 - | John Mayer | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Okay. This is my new favorite person in the world. A long while ago I heard one of his songs somewhere (Back to You) and I wanted to get it, but I had no idea who was singing it. Then recently I was watching Jay leno and he was introduced. I soon came to realize that the person singing sounded really familar so i did some reaserch on the net and low and behold I found that Mayer had song the song that I so loved in the past. Did you follow all that cuz, rereading this I'm confusing even myself. Anyway he's tres cool. I think of him as an American David Gray, which is fine to me. Um technically I dont have his album yet and obviously I will soon. But I recently got Morpheus, which is a Napster type thing so I've been able to listen to all his song for free. But cuz I understand that artists live off their work im still gonna buy his album. Anyway GO BUY HIS CD (update 4/13 - I finally bought his cd. so now you must buy it if I bought it. ha.!!) Fave songs - Back To You No Such Thing City Love Great Indoors |

| Dido | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| March 22 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Okay, there are few female singers that I enjoy as Much as Dido. I first heard her on the show "Roswell" where she sings the opening song. After hearing the song and not really knowing who it was, I soon heard her duet with Eminem, which was really good. (I like eminem. sorry) AnywayEventually I bought her cd. And I listened to the disk every night. There are sad song, happy song and song that I could see in dance clubs. Thats why I like her soo much. she has a great range and she'll take actual risks. Fave songs on "No Angel" - Track 1 - Here With Me Track 5 - All You Want Track 8 - Slide Track 12 - Take My Hand |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| March 8 | Daft Punk | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Okay, although I did buy Daft Punk under a false idea of what it was (I thought it had to do with anime, for some reason. And Im not a fan of anime. do you know there is anime porn???? that made me laugh... and so did furries and plushies, but thats a whole nother story....) Anyway, I soon came to the realization, that I really like their sound. Half of the cd I bought is sung, and the other is instrumental (digital). It can be put under the dance catagory, or techno, I guess. I definately bob my head when I listen too it. Thats reallythe extent of my dancing: head bobbing. MTV seems to like it too, seeing how they are always playing their music in the background of shows, especially the Real World....Yeah, so they're cool. :) Fav songs on "Discovery" cd - track 1 - One More Time track 4 - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger track 13 - Face to Face track 14 - Too Long |

| Third Eyed Blind | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Feb 27 - | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Yeah, They are a bit out of the limelight right now, but I don't care. Everyday I need my TEB fix. Personally, I like their first album a bit more than the 2nd. Only very slightly. It's only becauae I listened to the 2nd one nonstop for a while and got a bit sick of it. (I had lost the 1st one and only recently found it. Score!) Anyway, catchy lyrics, good sound. (im a really bad critic... hehe) Fav songs on "Third Eyed Blind "- Track 2 - Narcolepsy Track 5 - Graduate Track 6 - How's It Gonna be Track 11 - the Background Fav song from "Blue" - Track 2 - Wounded Track 4 - Never Let You Go Track 5 - Deep Inside Of You Track 10 - Farther |

| David Gray | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Feb 19 - | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Yeah, so it's not a band persay... more a singer/ songwriter. But I dont care. I can say that David Gray is my favorite singer to this day, and will be for a while. I'm not sure where I first heard him or even why I bought his cd. I just remember getting lost his music. Some of his love songs are one that I imagine singing to my significant other in the future. And even some of his up tempo songs I really enjoy. His breakthrough album in the U.S (he's been well known in the UK for a while now) was "White Ladder" I encourage you all to go buy his cd's. You'll thank me later. ;) Fav songs on White Ladder cd- Track 1 - "please forgive me" Track 7 - "white ladder" **Track 8 - "this years love" Track 9 - "Sail away" Fav song on "Lost Songs" cd- Track 3 - "hold on" Track 7 - "falling down the mountainside" Track 11 - "wurlitzer" |

| Feb 10 - | Jimmy Eat World | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I just discovered this band like a week ago and bought the cd. The main reason I like them at first is that catchy little diddy "the Middle." I love this song, Its a really cool song with catchy lyrics and beat. To sum it up, its a song that i would increase the volume and sing along. But thats just why I bought the cd. "Bleed America," the name of the cd, has got to be a cd that i will actually listen to for as long as i have it. I have a very large cd collectiona and there are only a select cd'd that I continue to listen to after a month. I'll go into which one's they are in later weeks, but I feel, that Jimmy Eat World is something ill be listening to, past a month. Fave songs on Bleed America" - Track 3 - "The Middle" Track 5 - "sweetness" Track 8 - "Get it Faster" Track 10- "The Authority Song" |
