Herb Potpourri

This refreshing potpourri is lovely placed in a basket as a gift when visiting a sick friend.



1 cup lemon balm leaves.
1/2 cup lemon thyme.
1/2 cup rosemary.
1 dessertspoon mint leaves.
1 tablespoon orange peel (ground)
1 tablespoon orrisroot powder.
1 cup dried cornflowers or delphiniums for colour.
2 drops eucalyptus oil.

Mix all dry ingredients well with your hands. Carefully add the eucalyptus oil .
stirring well and store in an airtight container for about 3 weeks, shaking
daily.

Peppermint Potpourri (I)

This recipe is hundreds of years old and has a strong refreshing fragrance that
is lovely in a bathroom when you have guests. Beats artificial room deodorisers.
every time.

2 cups peppermint leaves.
2 cups thyme.
2 cups lavender flowers.
1 teaspoon crushed coriander seeds.
1 teaspoon cloves.
1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg.
1 teaspoon crushed caraway seeds.
1 tablespoon crushed gum benzoin.

Mix together all ingredients and allow to age in airtight containers for 4 weeks.
Transfer to pretty containers with lids. Remove lid and stir the contents .
to fill the air with fragrance.

Easy Peppermint Potpourri (II)

This is a different recipe from the preceding one and has the calendula flowers
to add colour and texture to the mixture.

1 cup peppermint leaves
'/2 cup thyme
'/2 cup basil
'/2 cup calendula petals
2 drops oil of peppermint

Proceed as for Peppermint Potpourri (I).

Orange Potpourri

This unusual potpourri is wonderfully aromatic and brightly
coloured.

2 cups ground orange peel
1 cup other citrus peel, ground
1 cup dried chamomile flowers
1 cup dried orange blossom flowers
1 cup dried orange calendulas, marigolds, nasturtiums or
other orange or yellow flowers
1 cup mixed orange and pineapple mint
1 tablespoon coriander seeds
1 tablespoon orrisroot powder
5 drops orange blossom oil
5 drops oil of bergamot

Mix all together. Store in an airtight container and allow to
mellow for 3 weeks. Decorate with orange or yellow
everlastings.
