POTPOURRI PAGE 1

Rose and Spice Potpourri

4 cups dried rose petals
1 cup mixture of freshly ground cinnamon, cloves and a little nutmeg
1/2 cup orrisroot powder
10 drops rose oil rosebuds,
whole roses or petals for decoration.

Mix rose petals and spices thoroughly with your hands.
Blend oil and orris root together with your fingers and add to the petals.
Put mixture into an airtight container and allow to mellow for 3 weeks before transferring to jars or bowls.
This mixture has a dusty appearance because of the spices.
A few perfect rose buds, roses or petals can be used on the sides and tops of glass jars to brighten this beautiful but simple potpourri.

Simply Rose Potpourri

This small easy recipe is a good one to start with or for those with a small garden. A small quantity of rose petals may be dried in open baskets, away from the light, and tossed daily to encourage even drying.
2 cups dried rose petals
1/2 teaspoon dried mint leaves
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1 1/2 teaspoons orrisroot powder
2 drops rose oil

Combine the rose petals, spices and mint in a bowl. Mix in the orrisroot powder and the rose oil. Blend well and store in an airtight container for 3 4 weeks, shaking daily.
