John Muir Service Awards 1976
Prestigious John Muir Service Awards Recognize Contributions of 20 Seniors
Chosen for outstanding service to John Muir High School at the JMSA assembly were the following seniors. Listed
are just a few of their areas of service.
KENT BORJA was president of the Drama Club. He was also a member of the Superintendent's Advisory
Committee.
BEVERLY BOURNE was active in BSU, and the Publications, Civil Affairs and
Girls Activities commissions.
MATT CABLE spent much of his time in Color Guard. He was Field Manager
and Rover in the Old Fashioned Days Parade. He photographic expertise for both Blazer and Hoofbeats earned him
"Photographer of the Year" honors.
LINDA EARLE performed in countless musical productions as well as being
Copy Editor of Hoofbeats. She is a salutatorian.
BARBARA FINLEY was active athletically, served on many clubs and was a
Flag Girl this year.
CYNTHIA GUZMAN was an active member of MEChA, a class council member and
an Upward Bounder. She was on the Prom Entertainment committee.
PEGGY HARA served as president of "S" Club and AFS, and as
Associate Editor of Blazer.
PETER HARNSICH held the two key positions of ASB president and Senior Class
president. He was a recipient of the Elk's Youth Scholarship.
DAWN HEIMLICH helped on the Bow and Sucker Committee and with the distribution
of May Day Flowers. She was always seen behind the keys of a typewriter in the "E" building performing
many secretarial duties.
KERRY ISHIDA was on the Hoofbeats staff and served as chairman of the
Senior of the Month committee. She was Publicity Commissioner and worked on the Prom committee.
KAREN JONES was a member of the Prom Location, Grad Night and Senior
of the Month committees. She helped make the May Day Flower Sale a success. Karen was also Assistant Pep Commissioner.
SHARON KIKKAWA worked as both Index and Senior Editor of Hoofbeats. She
was on the Pep, Publications, Girls Activities, and Alumni commissions.
CAROL KLAUSCHIE was both Underclassmen Editor and Business Manager of Hoofbeats.
She was a varsity cheerleader and an active member of "S" and "Z" clubs.
SERENA KUMAMOTO was president and vice president of the Drama Club. She
was also Prom committee chairman.
CAREN LEDBETTER was active athletically, and was on many commissions. She
was the Prom Entertainment committee chairman and was Fine Arts Commissioner.
DEBBIE LEE served as "Z" Club president, competed on the
GAA swim and water polo teams, and was ASB treasurer.
PETER MALONE was Assistant Pep Commissioner and was Student Congress
president.
TEMILLE PORTER was an active member of numerous clubs, including "S"
and BSU. She was also an "M" Girl.
MANUEL RODRIGUEZ worked diligently in setting up and heading the Color Guard.
RENEE TAJIMA was ASB president this year after having held numerous other
positions in past years.
