STEVENAGE RAILWAY STATION IN THE 1970S
The present Stevenage station opened in the early 1970s, replacing the GNR one in the Old Town. Prior to electrification, services to & from London were operated by DMUs or Brush type 2s, such as this one seen arriving on an up train.

Here we have a Deltic on a down express connecting nicely with a Cravens DMU.

A "Peak" (class 46) arrives with a down train.

HSTs were introduced in the late 1970s. Running under the wires is this one, on a down service.

Now we have a class 47 passing through the station with empty Freightliner flats.
Even after electrification, services from Huntingdon/Peterbrough to Hertford North were DMU operated. A refurbished 101 DMU, en route to Hertford, calls at Platform 1, Stevenage.
