Cloncurry Computer Gamers Group

One thing which you quickly discover about living in a remote place like Cloncurry is that you have to be able to "make your own fun". Life becomes quite boring otherwise. So some members of our community have taken it upon themselves to help alleviate that boredom:-). Over the past few years, a loose collection of blood-thirsty computer gamers have come together on the odd occasion to have a "LAN Party", (LAN standing for Local Area Network), where we take our PC's over to some lucky(?) persons' place, hook them all together, then proceed to have multi-player games (generally shoot-em-ups). These parties start in the early afternoon or late evening, and untill unspeakable hours of the early morning.

Our particular group can trace its' history back 4 or 5 years to one guy named Bruce. Back then, having 2 computers was quite uncommon, and hooking them together so that 2 people could play games against each other was even more uncommon. First-person games such as Doom, Doom II, and Rise Of The Triad, were the last word in multi-player games at that time. At present, Quake II, Shogo (and now Half-Life) are our games of choice Quake II has proved extremely popular, and has outlasted several other games such as SIN, and Unreal. Of course, if you are having a multi-player game, it is of utmost importance that you have a "screen" name. To call yourself by your own name just isn't on :-). Some examples of the "screen" names you might currently find in our group are:
Wraith
Fodder
Pale Rider
Bait
Lonewolf
You get the general idea :-)
