Presented in the past

1. Biblical Perspective on Political-Economic Activity: an Introduction

Everything that we do, must be done to the honour of God. But, how does a Christian do that when making political choices? How do you decide which party to vote for. Does that depend only on such moral issues as abortion, euthanasia etc.?
In this presentation, I argue that we must consider also the economic issues that governments deal with. The presentation introduces and applies  some of the basic principles or concepts that must be considered in dealing with these issues from a Christian perspective.
While the principles/process will be applied to the area of political-economy, they are helpful for Christian debate about other social issues as well.

The presentation is based on Chapters 2 and 3 of my book Political-Economic Activity to the Honour of God

2. The use of Scripture in the integration of faith in Business
. This presentation takes the concepts/principles developed in my book and applies them more explicitly to Business. I talk a bit about the use of scripture and scriptural principles and then illustrate that by showing some application of the Ten Commandments and the Cultural Mandate to the area of
business.

Since I used this for  a Saturday morning breakfast meeting, the presentation was held to 30 minutes but could be extended to cover more principles.

3. Some application of the Stewardship and the Cultural Mandate. This presentation explores the biblical principles of stewardship and the cultural mandate and applies this by looking at the implications of these principles for personal finances, for political-economic activity and for the field of business.

Other possible presentations based on the book.

1. The Goals of Economic Policy- What should be the most important economic goals that Christians should strive for? Should we share the secular striving  for growth and prosperity? Should growth be rejected?
  (Chapter 4). Basic presentation prepared.

The following would take more time.

2. A Conditional Preference for the Free Market- Should Christians support the shift to the right, to "leave it to the market?"(capitalism) or should we encourage government to take a leading role in the economy (socialism)? (Chapters 5,6 & 7).

3. Government and Ownership- What does the Bible teach about property? Is private property a matter of "divine providence'". Are there limits to taxation, regulation, etc.?  (Chapter 8)

4. Personal Financial Stewardship- I could take lecture 3 above (applications of stewardship etc.) and expand the section on personal finance and focus on that alone.
Based on material used in a course I teach on Personal Finance
