Why did Jesus ask His disciples to go to the other side?

Sometimes we want to trust in Jesus more, to come closer to Jesus more, but what are the things that make us not able to? Please describe a real situation.

Conclusion
Jesus wants to walk with us. But our understanding of Jesus is not deep enough, such that we are not willing to receive Jesus.
We of little faith, Jesus still wants to walk with us, and truly know Jesus is the Son of God, and to worship Him.
