What are Military Police Officers?
"What are Military Police Officers? Is a son, daughter husband, wife, brother, sister, daddy or mom. They're the first one you curse when you get a parking ticket, but they're also the first one you call when you get in trouble. You get furious when they write you up for speeding through a school zone. But don't know that they're the same ones who just picked up the broken body of a child from the street; a child struck down by another speeding driver. When our husbands or wives kiss us "good-bye" in the morning, they wonder when or "if" we will be home for supper. When one Military Police Officer goes bad, the entire Military Police Corps is ridiculed. But when Military Police Officers give up their lives in the line of duty, only family and brother officers mourn for them. Military Police Officers are lonely persons. At times the whole world is their enemy, hearing only from their critics and detractors. Well, I think it is high time that we begin to realize the role of Military Police Officers. They are our buddies, always there when we need them. Military Police Officers are very special people. They have to be to take what they do and yet perform their duties well. And what does one Military Police Officer think about during those long, tedious and often very dangerous hours on duty? "I do what I do because these are my people and this is my country."
