Project Description

For my cooperating center project, two students from my Home Maintenance and Improvement class and I constructed a picnic table. During my time at Weimar High School, my students needed help with purchasing materials for a metal project. I was able to get my former employer to donate the metal for three picnic tables that would be shipped back to the turf grass farm in the Dallas area. After seeing the completed project, I decided this would be a nice gift for the Ag Department. Two of my students and I completed a fourth table for Weimar High School. We decided to locate it on the patio area outside the Ag Building where students like to spend time during the fall studying for numerous Leadership Development Events. It is also located in front of Mr. Morton's garden. Not only did this project give my students experience in working with metal and wood, but it also gives students a place to study, eat, or relax for many years to come.

Beginning to construct the frame of the picnic table.
We located the table on the patio outside the Ag Building. Students enjoy studying outside. There is also a garden during the growing season.
Students enjoy sitting on the completed project.
