Bush's State of the Union Speech
Bush gave his state of the union address on Feburary 2, 2005.  His speech was brilliant if I do say so myself and it outlined a plan for America that is very progressive and will make us stronger.  He talked about reforming Social Security.  That was met with jeers from angry democrats who refuse to believe that the system is broken.  They are living in the now and not thinking of the future.  Everyone who knows anything about Social Security realizes that there will be a problem in the future, the argument comes down to when will it be a problem.  My question is, why does it matter when?  There IS going to be a problem and we NEED to fix it NOW.  Also, President Bush talked about what we had done in Iraq.  I am a strong supporter of the war effort and I was in awe to watch the Iraqi people come out and vote as they did.  To all of those that say the Iraqi people don't want us there and that they don't want our democracy.....that is not what 72% of them said.  It was an amazing moment in the speech when the Iraqi woman hugged the mother of the fallen soldier.  It was amazing to see the sacrifice and the result of the sacrifice.  Other issues Bush addressed were economic issues.  He talked about slowing down spending and making tax relief permanent.  I am always a fan of both of those things.  So Bush's speech was great and laid out a visionary plan for the future.  I hope that he is able to accomplish all he said he would and that the future would be secure for me and for my future chilldren and grandchildren.
God Bless You President Bush!
