My picks to run in '08. Yes while I'm still enjoying the sweet taste of victory I'm already concerned about who we should put up to run in '08. It's already been determined that Hillary Clinton will be crowned the Democratic candidate. That should give you nightmares. I know it gives me nightmares. We should have the attitude that the Democrats had this year, but we should be smart about it. They wanted "anyone but Bush" and assumed anyone could beat him. They gave a non-option to the American people and as a result George W. Bush is in for four more years. We as conservatives should have the same attitude. We should be screaming at the top of our lungs "ANYONE BUT HILLARY" but we have to give an option that can actually beat her. We already know that Hillary will have a strong running. People like her...go figure. She will play well among black voters, women voters, and many other groups. She is strong competition, and we must bring out the big guns to defeat her. I don't want to run Bill Frist or Jeb Bush. Although they may be very qualified and respected guys, it would be like running Bob Dole against Bill all over again. There would be no chance. We have to give the Dems an option to vote for our guy. That's why my picks are a little more in the middle. I would put up John McCain and Condi Rice. Why? John McCain is a man respected by all. I have spoken with several Democrats that said if given the option to vote for McCain they would. He is very intelligent and could bring in strong military support and many Democrats and Independents. I would put him together with Condi Rice. Condi is a great lady. She is very intelligent and well respected by most. She could draw in a lot of black support as well as women. The only way to beat Hillary is to have Condi on the ticket. A woman against a woman, however I would put Condi in the Vice Presidental chair to satisfy some of the older voters who might not be ready to see a woman as President. So there you are, my picks for '08. I know that these two could win hands down and I hope that will be the case in four years. |
