PERSHING RULES
Zero Tolerance Policy:
Pershing High School has a "ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY" for; use or possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia; use or possession of weapons of any type; use of possession of incendiary devices, such as smoke bombs and firecrackers, and gang activity of any kind, including gang graffiti and colors.  Any student suspected of being involved in any of these activities will be suspended and administratively transferred from Pershing High School

Grading Procedures:
The grading policy at Pershing High School indicates the evaluation of the student's academic ability and effor as demonstrated on assignments, projects and test.  The grading scale and emphasis can differ considerably form teacher to teacher, as well as from subject to subject; the student should thoroughly understand the grading scale to be used by the teacher.  A course syllabus with grading scale will be provided to students by each teacher at the beginning of each school year/semester.

Grade Point Average (GPA):
A student's grade point average is computed for his/her entire school stay.  Each grade a student earns receives a grade point number value.  The number values for courses taken are averaged at the end of each semester.  The following point scale is used to assign points: A=4; B=3; C=2; D=1; F=0

Honor Roll:
If your grade point average (GPA) is a 3.0 or better with no grade lower than a "C", you are an honor student and your name wil be placed on the Honor Roll, which is published by the counselors after each marking period.

Repord Cards:
Report cards are distributed four times during the school year.  Final marks, which are cumulative are made in January and June and mid-semester marks in October/November and March/April.:


School Lockers: 
First or second hour te achers will assign all lockers.  School lockers and school locks remain the exclusive property of the Board of Education at all times.  Lockers are subject to inspection at any time and the student assigned to the locker is responsible for the contents.  Keep your locker locked.  Do not share your combination with other students.  A Pershing student may have only one locker.

Textbooks:
Textbooks are loaned to students at the beginning of each school year.  Books damaged, lost or destroyed will be paid for by the students before a replacement text can be issued.  The school assumes no responsibility for the secuirity of textbooks or materials loaned to students.

School Spirit Days:
Students are encouraged to dress for success.  Friday is designated as "SCHOOL SPIRIT" day.  Staff and students dress in the school colors of blue and gold.

Lost and Found:
A Lost and Found service is maintained for students in the Secuirty Office.  The Security Office is located on the second floor across from Room 224.

Announcements:
Each school day, announcements are broadcast over the school's public address system during the second hour.  It is the student's responsibility to listen to these announcements in order to  keep informed of school activities and school emergencies.

Bus Pass Policy:
To be eligible for a buss pass, students must receieve free or reduced lunch and live more t han 1.5 miles from school but live within Pershing boundaries.  Students may bot loan, share of borrow bus passes.  Lost bus passes cannot be replaced.

Personal Property:
Personal property (cameras, musical instruments, etc) brought to school is the responsibility of the students.  Sage keeping of persobal items at school is the responsibility of the student  Lost or stolen personal property CANNOT be replaced by the school.

Permission for Early Dismissal:
When a parent knows that a student needs to be dismissed from school before the end of his/her schedule, the parent should send a letter indicating the reason for dismissal and a telephone number where they can be contacted for verification.  The student should give this note to his or her counselor upon reporting to school.  If an emergency arises that requires a student to leave school early, a parent must notify the student's counselor of the emergency.  Proper procedures will be taken for the student to report to the counselor's office for instructions and an Excused Dismissal Slip.

Telephones:
A public telephone is located in the foyer outside the office.  This telephone is not to be used during class time for any reason.  Only students whose schedule of classes is complete may use this phone.  Students, with a pass from c lass will be allowed to use the telephone in their counselor's suite for EMERGENCY PURPOSES ONLY.

Visitors:
No guests or visitors except those on school business or prearranged student exchange will be permitted during school hours.  All visitors must report to the main office for authorizations to move throughout the building.

Dress Code
Students of Pershing High must conduct themselves with a sense of personal pride.  They are expected to be neat, clean safe healthy, and orderly appropriately for school.  To ensure a clean, safe healthy, and orderly environment conducive to learning and the attainment of high academic goals, Pershing High Schools has a madatory dress code.  Copies will be distributed at the beginning of each school year.  Headgear is not allowed.
