Man is not very fond of plain water, and prefers flavoured fluids called beverages. When a layman of Kerala comes across a terminology like beverages, he may be taken aback, thinking that the subject is concerned with some alcoholic drinks. India has an ancient cultural heritage, which was influenced by the insight of Arsha Bharatha Saitns who led a spiritual life in close association with the Mother Nature. Ayurveda involves the application of herbal medications and nutritional supplements. Thus, Indians are blessed with the potentialities of plant foods. At present a huge collection of bottled plain water (mineral water) is available in India. CDST aims to bottle these medicated waters in place of bottled drinks. We hope it may be a reality shortly. CDST developed technology for the bottling of indigenous beverages. We are ready to transfer the technology to interested firms. Dip tea is common, we are planning to launch herbal dips. A lot of supplementary food is common in market. It is a big industry in India. Using our indigenous technology, we are planning to launch, herbal supplementary powders, using commonly available herbs. Indigenous technology for increasing the keeping quality of food and beverages is available. More research is needed in this area for adopting reliable technologies. |
