The Races of Fäedór
This page contains information pertaining
racial adjustments that differ from the D&D norm.
Humans: Humans are the most populous race in Fäedór having arrived from north shortly after Mesmerallun's leaving. They do not face any class restrictions as a whole, but certain cultures prohibit certain classes as the chart below illustrates. There may be occasional exceptions made if certain circumstances in the story line allow for a character of a certain class in a particular culture. Of course adventurer's of a culture can pick up a prohibited class in the course of adventuring in another culture.
| Culture | Prohibited Classes |
| Aasla | Barbarian, Druid, Monk, Ranger, Sorcerer, Wizard |
| Tendril | Barbarian, Monk, Paladin, Sorcerer |
| Firiel | Depends on Gender, Barbarian, Monk, Paladin |
| Free City of Xysos | None |
| Hinterlands | Barbarian, Sorcerer, Wizard |
| Torkonia | Barbarian, Druid, Monk, Paladin, Sorcerer |
| Northlands | Monk, Paladin, Wizard |
Dwarves: The Dwarves of Fäedór do not receive the +4 AC bonus vs. giants, as giants have not yet come to Fäedór. Instead they receive the toughness feat at 1st level because of natural Dwarven fortitude at a young age. Otherwise Dwarves receive usually modifiers and abilities. There are no prohibited classes for Dwarves, but druids, monks, paladins, sorcerers, and wizards are all very rare.
Elves: Racial Ability
Adjustments are below. Note the "sylvan elves" are more similar to
the classic high elves than to sylvan elves.
Sylvan Elves: Preferred

Syndarin Elves: +2 Int, Dex, -2 Str,
Con, rest as Standard Elf

Sylvan
Elves are the classic high elves and the original elves inhabiting Fäedór.
It was they who first received the secrets of sorcery from the Myladrim.
They founded the great city of Sylvas with sorcery and dwelt there and over the
rest of the continent for centuries. When elves learned they could study
magic as a discipline, it caused a divergence in the race. The Syndarin
elves skin became more pale as they studied away try to perfect wizardry, while
the Sylvans continued as before. Most of the elves that left with
Mesmerallun were also Sylvan.
Syndarin Elves used their disciplined wizardry to found their
great city of Syndar and also tought their discipline to the other races through
the resources of the Great Kingdom. Syndarin elves tend to be more
reserved in action than Sylvan elves. Many Syndarin Elves have begun to
journey to Tol Taurea "forested isle" to further master wizardry and
to escape the shadow of Mesmerallun.
Mesmeratim have been tainted by Mesmerallun and almost seem
to be nothing more than the shadows of the elves they once were. They
first appeared with the rising of Ostogon and have spread through the Sylvan
Wood as the a dark mist followed in their wake.
Gnomes (halflings): The
Gnomes of Fäedór are a combination of standard gnomes and halflings.
Adjustments: +2 Dex, -2 Str. Small Size: +1 to attack rolls,
and AC, +4 to hide checks, lifting/carrying at 3/4 normal and use small
weapons. Base Speed of 20 feet. Low Light Vision of twice normal
human. +2 bonus for following skills: listen (keen hearing), alchemy (keen
sense of smell), & move
silently. They also receive a +1 bonus to all saving throws as they are
reasonably lucky. Gnomes can also us speak with animals as a spell-like
ability once per day with burrowing mammals (badgers, foxes, rabbits, chipmunks,
etc.) Favored Class: Illusionist, Prohibited Classes:
Paladin. There are small factions that train gnomes for the other unorthodox classes such
as Barbarian, Bard, Monk, but these are rare. Sorcerers also tend to be rare.
Gnomes are a stout folk that share both
human and elven qualities and have some entirely to their own. The race
appeared almost immediately after the disappearance of the Mesmeratim. Some elves
actually believed that Mesmerallun had shrunk their brethren into gnomes, but
such was not the case. Others speculate that the Gnomes are much older,
but had managed to remain hidden from the rest of the world until that
point. Gnomes already knew how to work illusions, but learned other magic from the elves and dwelt among
them.
The largest current population outside of Elleromensia is Pallisarmae in the
Sylvan Wood. There are also gnomes in Gadania and Xysos that have remained
there since the fall of the Great Kingdom.
They are readily accepted among the elves, but regarded with
suspicion by humans who tell fairy tales about them. There has been very
little recent contact with dwarves due to geography.
Goblinoids: The Goblinoids of Fäedór include goblins, hobgoblins,
bugbears, and orcs. Goblins are by far the most populous of the goblinoids
and can be found scattered all over Fäedór. Hobgoblins and Bugbears are
usually found among the larger goblin bands and occasionally form their own
bands. Orcs are most commonly found in the Fenn and are the most
unpredictable of the four.
