For the first few years of its existence the city of Syndar grew and prospered and Pontos and his wife Syndara enjoyed peace.  Syndara was kept busy with her studies and leading the Council of Syndaran mages in the
ruling of the city and Pontos took over the military after his mother and father retired in 290 FS.  But in 292, Syndara and Pontos had their first child,a girl, whom they named Amakiiran.  There was much rejoicing in Syndar
at the birth and many delegates from Sylvas and surrounding elven cities came to Amakiiran's christening and naming ceremonies.  Including a representative from the Mesmeratim.  Throughout the ceremonies, the Mesmeratim representative kept discussing the inherent evils of wizardry and that the practice must stop.  He stated that sorcery was the true power of Faedor and that Mystrodhe did not intend for wizardry to be discovered and
that its use attacks the magic weave that all magic depends on.  He challenged Syndara to a duel of magics, a practice unheard of during those days, to prove the superiority of Sorcery over Wizardry.  Of course Syndara
declined stating that the whole idea of a duel of uncouth and evil.  She and the council of wizards demanded that the diplomat leave Syndar immediately.
The Diplomat smiled and stated "I am the son of the Mesmerullun, I shall stay and go as I please.  For your insolence, weak wizards, I will destroy your city and all of wizardry will die with you."  He quickly threw down an
artifact of great power and portal appeared spewing out creatures of great evil.  Quickly the wizards tried to contain the evil manifesting itself from the gate.  But, the battle spread and the whole city became engulfed.
Pontos Solostrian protected his firstborn and as many as possible from the attacks.  He showed why he was considered one of the greatest elven warriors of all history, dispatching demons right and left.  Meanwhile, Syndara took to the skies and battled the son of Mesmerallun.  The battle was furious, but in the end, Syndara vanquished him in battle and the portal was closed.
It was decided after that, that Syndar needed a citadel where it could interact with the outside world without worrying about evil creeping into the city itself.  So, the Syndarans started the construction of Greyhome, a
citadel where the Syndarans can trade and interact with the outside world.  Thus it would allow them the oppurtunity to isolate themselves more and more from the world and make Syndar a true home of elvenkind and wizardry.
In the year 300, again Pontos and Syndara knew joy, as their first son, Ambardil, was born and the citadel of Greyhome was completed.  But by the end of year, that happiness dissapated as Mesmerallun leaves Faedor and
states his promises to the world.  Almost all know about the his promise to return and destroy Sylvas, but few remember the promise of the immediate destruction of Syndar and wizardry.  He stated "Know all, in my great
magnificance I sent into motion five plagues that will destroy those vile wizards of Syndar and their murderous leaders Syndara and Pontos Solostrian.  All the world will tremble as my power destroys those foolish elves who turned from me and sorcery to the promises of weak power of Wizardry.  In fifty years, Syndar will be a memory and wizardry will be weaken to a point of non-existence.  Repent all you wizards of Syndar, do not follow the murderous wizardess Syndara and her lackies, foreswear wizardry and follow me.  You have one year before my retribution takes place on Syndar."
So for one year, Syndar prepared itself for the worst.  The city became strong and with the help of its neighbors, believed itself prepared for anything.  Unfortunately the plagues were not just anything.  The first plague arrived in the year 302 F.S.  As a swarm of huge insects descended on the city of Syndar.  The insects were unusually strange since they were able to combine their life forces and create huge fireballs.  Though fearsome, the attacks were easily defeated by the windriders of Syndar and the Wizards who defended the city.  Right after the defeat of the insects of flame as the people of Syndara know it, the second plague set in at the city.  A virulent disease that seemed to
only to target wizards set in.  Yes, the plague symptoms was exhaustion, nausea, and most dangerous of all when a wizard infected by this disease cast a spell, he drew the power from his lifeforce not the surrounding weave, thus aging himself.  So a wizard infected by this disease was sick and fatigued and when he could cast a spell, it almost killed him.  As the plague spread, the third plague came, a host of goblins suddenly appeared, and the city had to defend itself with only its martial forces and those who did not use wizardry.  Again, the city of Syndar held, mostly because of the intelligence and skill of Pontos Solostrian and his troops.  Also, because the wizards of the city drained their items of power to battle the hoard of vile goblins.  Also a small clan of gnomes used their illusions to keep the horde unbalanced, thus becoming fast allies with the Syndar.  Again wizardry proved its worth over sorcery.
A year past and a cure was found for the plague and the city was at peace.  Syndara and Pontos had a third child, Morban, a boy and on the day of his birth, the sky grew dark and the forth plague made its appearance as meteors crashed into the city leveling it and killing many.  The city was destroyed by the barrage, but the people vowed to rebuild, but before the first block could be laid.  The fifth and final plague descended on Syndar, as a flight of five green dragons flew over the city and proceeded to attack the citizens and wizards of the city.  The battle was furious and bloody, first the citadel of Greyhome was destroyed with its soldiers, then the dragons turned their wrath of the city itself.  Led by the great wyrms Chlorinatholos and his mate Verdanitholos, the five wyrms tore into the city.  The wizards, clerics, and warriors rose to battle them.  For the citizens of Syndar had become battle tested veterans who were not afraid of anything.  The battle lasted for many days and night and the many died.  But, the Syndarans were victorious.  On the final day, Pontos Solostrian squared in battle against Chlorintholos and defeated the beast as Syndara threw Verdanitholos from the skies.  Thus the five plagues were over.  The plagues had took an huge toll on the city.  The city itself was mostly destroyed, not to mention Greyhome.  The plagues had killed over half of the citizens of Syndar.  But, Syndar was victorious.
Thus ends chapter two of the glorious life of Pontos Solostrian
