| Welcome to Computer Applications. This course introduces the essential concepts necessary to make effective use of the computer. Students achieve an understanding of what computers can do, how they work, and how they can be used to create documents using word processing and spreadsheet applications for personal and business use. Lecture hours: 30 Lab hours: 20 Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: 1. Recognize basic computer concepts associated with system architecture, major hardware components, software types, and communication and connectivity systems; 2. Use appropriate terminology to discuss computer concepts and applications; 3. Create, save, print, close, retrieve, and modify documents using word processing and spreadsheet software; 4. Identify, understand, and use icons on menu bars, tool bars, and power bars of icon-driven applications.
