Jeju Island is located off the southern coast of South Korea, between China, Korea and Japan.  From October 18-27, 2001, it will be the site of a Mail Art exhibition and festival (workshops, lectures, performances, flea-market), featuring the participation of Mail Artists from around the world.

The exhibition features a traditional Mail Art show (all work accepted, no fee to enter, no work returned, catalog to all) on the theme, "Peace Island."  Send work for the exhibition by September 15 to:

Those attending to date include:  Ryosuke Cohen (Japan), Jas Felter (Canada), Michael Thompson (USA), Michael Hernandez de Luna (USA), Gianni Simone (Japan), Mia Spiral (USA), Elichi Matsuhashi (Japan), Renata and Giovanni Strada (Italy), and Peter and Angela Netmail (Germany).

John Held, Jr. will also attend, and will be curating exhibitions on the "Mailed Works of Nam June Paik," and a selection of "Letters by Ray Johnson."  In addition, there will be a special showing of "Brain Cells" by Ryosuke Cohen.

If you wish to attend, room and board will be provided free of charge by the Jeju Culture & Art Foundation.  You must provide your own transportation to and from Jeju Island. Contact John Held, Jr. ([email protected]) for more information.
