by John Guthrie
Yes, today is not only the
first day of October, but is also the day of
the first edition of John's News, which was
founded in the year 2000 by
John Guthrie. Will this newsletter be
a success in the future? Well,
that depends partly on you. How does
it depend on you? Viewer
feedback is an important part of this newsletter,
you need to let me
know what you like about my newsletter, or
don't like, and what you
would or would not like to read about in this
newsletter. This
newsletter isn't just about me, it's about
you as well. And without you,
what is thee point of having a newsletter
at all? Please send me emails
at [email protected] . Together we can
make this newsletter a
success. Oh, and if you have an article
you would like me to include in
my newsletter, please email them to me so
I can review them, and may
appear in the next edition of John's News.
By the way, if anyone has a
better title for this newsletter, please let
me know.
Fall Has Finally arrived
article by John Guthrie
Yes, fall is finally here.
Well, it sure ain't summer no more, at least
not where I'm living. The leaves are
beginning to change color, the
temperature is dropping. And some days
you wonder, where is the
snow, it feels like winter. Can you
believe that halloween is less than a
month away? Seeing as though I am a
college student, I don't think we
celebrate halloween around here much.
By god I think I even have to
go to school that day. Halloween is
a holiday, isn't it? Aren't people
supposed to get holidays off so they can celebrate?
From what I've
heard, event the elementary school kids have
to go to school all day.
Back when I was in elementary school,
I'm sure we at least had a half
day or something. Those poor kids.
With the new season of fall, this
means the end of many people's favorite season
of summer. No more
summer trips, back to school for the kids,
and back to work for many,
though then again summer can't last forever
can it? Can it?
Party School? How About Study School?
article by John Guthrie
I'm not sure who started
this thing about MSU being a party school,
because if you do too much partying, you probably
won't be around
here next semester. MSU, located in
East Lansing, Michigan, is home
to many Spartans. Now whoever said that
college is easier than high
school probably didn't go to college.
There are quite a few differences
between high school and college. One
difference is that you get to
schedule when you want your classes.
Hell, you can even take classes
at night if you want to. Shit, I don't
have any classes this semester that
start before 1 in the afternoon. Though
you may not have as much time
in class as from high school, if you
want to be successful, chances are
you'd better be studying an awful lot outside
of your classes. When
was the last party I went to? (besides birthday)
I'd really have to think
about that one. and even though I spent
so much time studying for my
classes, I still didn't end up with the grades
I was trying for. College is
a lot of work. (Or am I just signed up for
really hard classes?) Still, you
need to make time for more than just studying,
going to class, eating,
drinking, sleeping, and going to the bathroom.
You need exercise, get
out a bit, maybe get to know your campus a
little better. When there
are football games, things can get a little
crazy around with people
getting a little excited, maybe partying a
little too much, and maybe
drunk. (Hey, don't look at me, I don't think
I've ever attended a
Michigan State football game, though I've
heard that they do have a
pretty good team) So to sum it
all up, to some this might be a party
school (until they end up flunking out of
college), but if you want to be
successful here at Michigan State, you might
seriously want to consider
this as a Study School.
Hey, maybe I should take my own advice and get back to studying........
