Engine Rebuild
|
Well, It seems that a lack of oil pressure, 145,000 miles, and a lead foot, mix like whiskey and margarita mix. Good for about 2 seconds, and then all this shit flies everywhere. But instead of the toilet in this case, it was just my oil pan and my oil pump. Oh, and every single bearing in the motor. As you can see from the pictures, This was not pretty, bearing all over the place. The good news was that nothing got to my head or turbo. They still got cleaned good, but no machining was necessary there. But, When I do something I do it right, and with the best possible parts. And, while I was in there I decided to get rid off the red, and now I have a nice shinny black metallic engine bay! My list of mods for the engine is as follows; Crower rods, 8:1 1mm Wiseco pistons, BC camshaft, Clevite timing components and balance shaft eliminator kit, 26 lbs. 240mm flywheel, 6 puck ACT clutch and pressure plate, Stainless valves, 210 lbs. valve springs, Some of the other stuff I have done is classified, but I can tell you I did a 14.2 on street tires, with 15psi on a stock turbo and 92 octane, BEFORE this rebuild. Right now, I only have 150 miles on it, so times are not going to be taken for another week or so, but I'm keep'in the tiny turbo! My bud Rey decided to be a smart-ass. |
