I got this hood from a yard in lower Phoenix, for $100. It was in reasonable shape when i got it, and it had all the pieces on it. The battery in the car it was from had caught fire so, as you can see, It had a lot of smoke damage. when I found it, It had another car laying on it.
I removed all of the paint. I had to smooth the drivers side out near where the battery was, because it was a little warped. But nothing major. I enlarged the holes in the scoop because they, sucked. They were way to small even for a little non functional scoop as this is.
I mounted in the vents and scoop, but decided i needed to carry over that whole shaved look I was giving to the rest of the car. I sealed the scoop together using epoxy and fiberglass. I did the same to the vents on the sides. I was very pleased when it was finished, and I got an offer for $500 the first day I drove the car with it on.
I actually got the hood during the whole fix the rest of the car thing. I mounted it just before I pulled the dent of the quarter panel. |
