Clutch

After I moved up here from Phoenix, I decided I needed a little more juice behind the gas pedal. I got a 3inch mandrel exhaust with a Dynomax 3inch muffler and a tasteful 3.25inch Stainless tip. (the tip was not mounted yet in the picture) I got a 3inch race cat from a shop and welded it in. And copper collector gaskets for the turbo to down pipe mount. A bit faster, but not fast enough.
So I made a boost controller and raised myself up to 13.5psi. I hadn't had a BOV for, well, forever. The car made the coolest noise when you let off the gas, even a very low throttle, low RPM. it sounded like a turkey call. but that was all you could hear. with the new exhaust, all you could hear when I was coming at you a full throttle was the turbo sucking air. the exhaust was very quite. Even for being able to see through the muffler. I didn't have a BOV, but everyone thought I did. I finally got a Bosch "Overrun Cutoff Valve" for a Porsche. A stock unit. Its good for 16.5psi, and well, I didn't have much money after the exhaust.
So I figure now I'm making 14.5second runs, if I had a good clutch. When I bought the car 24 months before the clutch felt 'ifie'. But I wasn't making enough power to need a better one. The first night after I turned the boost up, the clutch gave out. Hitting 7000RPM in second gear while feather the gas and only going 45 mph is pretty bad. And damn it stunk.
I located a few flywheels, don't ask me how, and got myself a 240mm wheel. There was no way I was going to put my old wheel in. I had a shop take off the inertia ring and it lightened it up about 6 lbs. to 26 lbs. Not to light, not nearly as heavy as it was.
I got the sprung-hub six-puck clutch kit from Top End in Hollywood. While I had the transmission out, I decided to remedy my grinding problem into third gear. I located a bearing/brass kit (after several weeks) at a shop not to far away from my home town, and rebuilt my transmission.
While i was doing that, I modified my shifter to be about 2 inches shorter. The actual angles didn't change, but the top of the stick doesn't have to go as far now. I put stiffer return springs in the check ball locations, so now it really clicks into gear. Much better. A new shift knob and I was set.
During the 3 or 4 days the car was in the air, My buddies had to drop in for a few laughs. As you can see, Rey has a fascination with his own crotch. Brandon likes to show everyone his IQ, and Chris, well, Chris looks just a high as ever.
