ASYLUM SEEKERS TO BE HIT BY SPENDING CUTS
NO CLUE, ON FLU
WE WILL no doubt hear by the end of the week how swine flu has surged to 200,000 further cases.

My concern is how can we differentiate between what is 'actual' swine flu, amidst the plethora of common viruses around throughout the year?

Sadly, due to numerous factors, phone diagnosis is the best most of us can hope for.

Yet, if this is the government's idea of 'modern' healthcare - then most of us are not fooled.
THE BIG ISSUE
VULNERABLE members of society will be the latest to suffer in a series of proposed cuts in government spending.

Asylum-seekers who are single and under the age of 25 will see their allowance slashed from 42.16 to 35.13 a week.

We should not be too shocked that the government has decided to pick on a vulnerable group.

Yet, the majority of educated people in Britain deplored the fact that the electorate made it possible for two BNP members to 'represent' the country in Europe.

This is precisely the kind of policy that would be expected from the BNP.

We should remember that many asylum-seekers are educated doctors and teachers that  we need for a healthy functioning economy.

Such a policy may end up hurting all of us eventually.

SUNBED DANGER
WARNINGS repeated on Wednesday mentioned the danger we all face from overexposure to sunbeds.

Yet, this is nothing we have not heard before.

I think sunbeds are dangerous, but with the dire weather lately is it no wonder people are turning to sunbeds?

BROWN'S BLOWN IT ON WIND POWER
LAST ORDERS
WIND turbines are not economically viable as the story in the Independent has now proven ('Wind power plan blown off course').

There is no point for Brown's government to commit to great ideas without the sustinenance to carry the plans forward to completion.

Hopefully, there will be a wind of change from now on when it comes to the government's renewable energy policy.
PUBS are closing at a rate in excess of 50 a week.

This could mean better quality over quanity.

In any case it may help dent the negative image of Britain as Europe's binge-drinking capital.
