SCANDAL ROCKS COLE HARBOUR PARLIAMENT - LIBERAL GOVERNMENT HANGS IN BALANCE

Government Leader Richards denies sexual impropriety.

Cole Harbour, NS(CP)The newly elected Liberal government in Cole Harbour has been dealt a major blow, as scandal rocked the weeks old legislature. Media sources throughout the region came across several allegations of impropriety. First, Bissett Lake Liberal MCHP (Member of Cole Harbour Parliament) Michel Samson was accused of "double dipping", by accepting positions in both the Cole Harbour and Nova Scotia legislatures. There have been calls from CHSF caucus chair Daniel Hicks for Samson to resign, although he has so far refused to do so.

Other brewing scandals have broken against members of the Parliament, however. The Conservative Party has consistently accused the Liberals and CHSF of vote fixing, implicating specifically Grit Bernie Boudreau (Colby South) and the controversial CHSF deputy leader, Colby Southwest MCHP Chris Windeyer. Both have denied the charges, with Boudreau calling them "patently false" and Windeyer on record as saying "Yeah, like I'd co-operate with such a gay party. Gay, of course, being in the fifth grade sense meaning shitty."

By far the most damaging scandal, however, has recently broke around Liberal Premier Dennis Richards, caucus members Mary Clancy (Colby Centre) and Alan Mitchell (Forest Hills Southeast). Although details are sketchy at this point, the controversial apparently involves a photo of all three along with some sort of barnyard animal and several empty bottles of vodka. Although the Premier has denied any impropriety on his part, Clancy and Mitchell have already resigned their seats in shame. Clancy was quoted as saying "Oink, oink." before being stationned as Cole Harbour's Consul-General in Hawaii. The resignations put the Liberal government into a minority situation just before they were to release their first budget - meaning the Opposition could bring down the government on the vote if they so chose. So far, Lt. Governor Dave Chiodo has been reluctant to say whether he would ask the CHSF to form a government, or allow Richards to call for a snap election should the government fall, but either outcome is seen as equally likely.

With his government in trouble, Premier Richards went immediately to the attack, releasing his own photo of CHSF Leader John DeWolfe and a Girl Scout. DeWolfe retorted by saying that the photo was "obviously doctored" and that the real girl looked "at least fourteen". How this will all pan out, no one can be sure, but political scientists will be watching with interest through the rest of the summer.
