CHRAF assaults Bedford

In Cole Harbour's first air-based offense into Canadian territory, Air Marshall Chris Windeyer personally led a bomber squadron over the posh bedroom community of Bedford, reducing it to rubble with a variety of incendiaries and so-called "smart bombs". The sortee met with little resistance, as Canadian anti-aircraft installations in the area had already been knocked out by crack CHRA commandoes. Although there was little strategic value in attacking Bedford, Air Marshall Windeyer said in a release that the saturation bombing was ordered "on principle", and was a heck of a lot of fun. Area MLA Peter Christie replied by saying "Oh fuck!" before his agonizing death, as a bomb exploded directly over his constituency office.

Canadians allege CHRA to have nuclear capabilities.

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy announced to world leaders at a recent UN Security Council meeting that Cole Harbour separatists may have nuclear capabilites on a par with India or Pakistan. Axworthy detailed how CSIS officials have found a leak in the Canadian nuclear program, with a suspected CHSF sympathizer funneling information out of his high-level post at the Chalk River, Ont. facility. It is also suspected that several Cole Harbour plants have been working in Pickering and in Point Lapreau, NB., gathering secrets and perhaps even smuggling fissionable material to Cole Harbour's atomic labs at Joseph Giles Elementary School. Cole Harbour Science and Technology Minister Daniel Hicks called the accusations "ludicrous", before asking reporters if they wanted any of his "special" brownies.

U-boat captain sinks giant crane.

Vice-Admiral Nic Carmichael once again captained his U-boat to glory, disrupting Canada's gas industry by sinking the massive Saipem 7000. The giant crane was too large to totally sink, but it has been upended and will be unable to work on the Sable Gas project. On his return to Cole Harbour waters, Carmichael was engaged by a group of angry fishermen, who mistakenly thought him to be a native. Carmichael escaped after a brief confrontation and returned to Cole Harbour waters. When asked about the mixup, Canadian fisheries minister Herb Dhaliwal got scared under the bright lights of a press conference and wet himself.

Cole Harbour gains important diplomatic recognition.

CHSF political insider Jacquelyn Walters won vital diplomatic recognition for Cole Harbour following her meeting with Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji in Beijing earlier this week. "I will certainly recommend that the People's Republic formally recognize the independence of Cole Harbour, and that we start official diplomatic relations." said Rongji in a release to the state news agency, Xinhua. For her part, Walters said she was pleased with the negotiations, and hoped an independent Cole Harbour could have positive relations with China. "The possibilites for trade and for constructive engagement between our two people is staggering. Besides, the scenery here kicks ass. This was a good trip." More good news is expected to follow, as British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook is widely thought to be considering recognition of Cole Harbour, and the Danish monarchy has already lent its support and legitimization by housing the Cole Harbour monarchs-in-exile.
