The Collins book says that the link between John and his father is not very strong but seems backed by tradition &/or research of other. I guess that means there is not primary proof.

Broderbund, WFT, Vol.15, Tree#1598 - says John's wife is Anne RUDER. Children were:

i. Thomas JANES⁽⁸⁾ was born in 1767 in Maryland. He died in 1854 in Washington Co., Kentucky.
ii. Benjamin JANES⁽⁸⁾ was born about 1775 in Maryland. He died about 1818.
