CHAPTER 1 Pro 1:1 The Proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: Pro 1:2 To know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding; Pro 1:3 to receive instruction in prudence, justice, and judgment, and uprightness; Pro 1:4 to give sense to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man. Pro 1:5 The wise hears and increases learning, and the understanding ones gets wise counsel, Pro 1:6 to understand a proverb and an enigma; the words of the wise, and their acute sayings. Pro 1:7 The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. Pro 1:8 My son, hear your father's instruction, and do not forsake the law of your mother; Pro 1:9 for they shall be an ornament of grace to your head, and chains for your neck. Pro 1:10 My son, if sinners lure you, do not be willing. Pro 1:11 If they say, Walk with us, let us lie in wait for blood, let us secretly lurk for the innocent without cause, Pro 1:12 let us swallow them up alive as Sheol, and whole, as those who go down into the Pit, Pro 1:13 we shall find all precious goods, we shall fill our houses with plunder, Pro 1:14 cast in your lot among us, one purse shall be to all of us. Pro 1:15 My son, do not walk in the way with them! Hold back your foot from their path; Pro 1:16 for their feet run to evil and they haste to shed blood. Pro 1:17 For in vain the net is spread in the sight of every bird. Pro 1:18 And they lie in wait for their own blood; they lurk secretly for their own souls. Pro 1:19 So are the ways of everyone who gets unjust gain; it takes away its owner's soul. Pro 1:20 Wisdom cries aloud outside; she gives her voice in the square; Pro 1:21 she calls at the head of places of commotion; in the opening of the gates, in the city she utters her words: Pro 1:22 Until when will you love to be simple, you simple ones? And will scorners desire scorn for themselves? And will fools hate knowledge? Pro 1:23 Turn back at my warning; behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you. Pro 1:24 Because I called, and you refused; I stretch out a hand, and none inclines, Pro 1:25 but you have ignored all my counsel, and you did not desire my warning. Pro 1:26 I also will laugh in your calamity, I will mock when your dread comes; Pro 1:27 when your dread comes like a storm; and your calamity arrives like a tempest, when distress and anguish come on you. Pro 1:28 Then they shall call on me, and I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me. Pro 1:29 Instead they hated knowledge and chose not the fear of Jehovah. Pro 1:30 They did not desire my counsel; they despised all my reproof, Pro 1:31 and they shall eat of the fruit of their own way and be filled with their own lusts. Pro 1:32 For the going astray of the simple kills them, and the ease of fools destroys them. Pro 1:33 But he who listens to me shall live securely and shall be at ease from the dread of evil.
CHAPTER 2 Pro 2:1 My son, if you will receive my words, and treasure up my commandments with you, Pro 2:2 so that you attend to wisdom, you shall extend your heart to understanding. Pro 2:3 For if you cry for discernment, lifting up your voice for understanding; Pro 2:4 if you seek her as silver, and search for her as hidden treasures, Pro 2:5 then you shall understand the fear of Jehovah and find knowledge of God. Pro 2:6 For Jehovah gives wisdom; out of His mouth are knowledge and understanding. Pro 2:7 He lays up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to the ones who walk in integrity, Pro 2:8 to guard the paths of judgment, and He protects the way of His saints. Pro 2:9 Then you shall understand righteousness and judgment and honesty, yea, every good path. Pro 2:10 When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Pro 2:11 discretion shall keep you, understanding shall watch over you, Pro 2:12 to deliver you from the evil way, from the man who speaks perverse things, Pro 2:13 those who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, Pro 2:14 who rejoice to do evil, they delight in the perversities of the wicked, Pro 2:15 whose paths are crooked, who are devious in their tracks; Pro 2:16 these will deliver you from the strange woman, from the foreigner who flatters with her words, Pro 2:17 who forsakes the guide of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. Pro 2:18 For her house leads down to death, and her tracks to the departed spirits. Pro 2:19 All going in to her do not return, nor do they reach the ways of life. Pro 2:20 Then you may walk in the ways of the good and keep the ways of the righteous. Pro 2:21 For the upright shall live in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it. Pro 2:22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
CHAPTER 3 Pro 3:1 My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands, Pro 3:2 for they shall add length of days and long life and peace to you. Pro 3:3 Mercy and truth will not forsake you, tie them on your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart, Pro 3:4 and you shall find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Pro 3:5 Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. Pro 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Pro 3:7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear Jehovah and depart from evil. Pro 3:8 Healing shall be to your navel and marrow to your bones. Pro 3:9 Honor Jehovah with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase, Pro 3:10 and your barns shall be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst with new wine. Pro 3:11 My son, do not reject the chastening of Jehovah, and do not loathe His correction; Pro 3:12 for whom Jehovah loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son with whom he is pleased. Pro 3:13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gets understanding. Pro 3:14 For its profit is better than the gain from silver, and its increase more than fine gold; Pro 3:15 she is more precious than rubies, and all the things you can desire are not to be compared with her. Pro 3:16 Length of days is in her right hand, riches and honor in her left hand. Pro 3:17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths peace. Pro 3:18 She is a tree of life to the ones who lay hold on her, and happy are the ones holding her fast. Pro 3:19 Jehovah founded the earth by wisdom; He founded the heavens by understanding; Pro 3:20 the depths were broken up by His knowledge, and the clouds dropped down the dew. Pro 3:21 My son, do not let them depart from your eyes; keep sound wisdom and judgment, Pro 3:22 and they shall be life to your soul, and grace to your neck; Pro 3:23 then you shall walk in your way safely, and your foot shall not stumble. Pro 3:24 When you lie down, you shall not dread; yea, you shall lie down and your sleep shall be sweet. Pro 3:25 Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of the destruction of the wicked when it comes. Pro 3:26 For Jehovah shall be at your side, and He shall keep your foot from being caught. Pro 3:27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it. Pro 3:28 Do not say to your neighbor, Go and come back again, or, Tomorrow I will give, when you have it beside you. Pro 3:29 Do not plan evil against your neighbor, since he lives securely by you. Pro 3:30 Do not strive with a man without cause, if he has done you no harm. Pro 3:31 Do not be envious of the cruel man, and choose not among all his ways. Pro 3:32 For the perverse one is hateful to Jehovah, but His intimacy is with the righteous. Pro 3:33 The curse of Jehovah is in the house of the wicked, but He blesses the abode of the just. Pro 3:34 Surely He scorns the scorners, but He gives grace to the lowly. Pro 3:35 The wise inherit honor, but fools exalt shame.
CHAPTER 4 Pro 4:1 Sons, hear the instruction of a father, pay attention to know understanding, Pro 4:2 for I give you good teaching; do not forsake my law. Pro 4:3 For I was my father's son, tender and an only one in the sight of my mother. Pro 4:4 And he taught me and said to me, Let your heart cling to my words; keep my commands and live. Pro 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forsake and do not turn away from the words of my mouth. Pro 4:6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you. Pro 4:7 Wisdom is the main thing; get wisdom, and with all your getting, get understanding. Pro 4:8 Exalt her, and she will lift you up; she shall bring you to honor when you embrace her. Pro 4:9 She shall give a wreath of grace to your head; she shall shield you with a crown of glory. Pro 4:10 Oh my son, hear and receive my sayings, and the years of your life shall be many. Pro 4:11 I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in the right tracks; Pro 4:12 when you go, your tracks shall not be narrowed, and when you run, you shall not stumble. Pro 4:13 Take fast hold of instruction, do not let her go; keep her, for she is your life. Pro 4:14 Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not go in the way of evildoers. Pro 4:15 Avoid it, do not pass by it; turn from it and pass on. Pro 4:16 For they do not sleep if they have done no evil, and their sleep is taken away unless they cause some to fall. Pro 4:17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. Pro 4:18 But the path of the just is as a bright light going on and shining till the day is established. Pro 4:19 The way of the wicked is as darkness; they do not know at what they stumble. Pro 4:20 My son, pay attention to my words; stretch your ear to what I say; Pro 4:21 let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the center of your heart; Pro 4:22 for they are life to those who find them, and healing to all his flesh. Pro 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. Pro 4:24 Turn away from you the crooked mouth, and put perverse lips far from you. Pro 4:25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, and let your eyelids look straight before you. Pro 4:26 Study the track of your feet, then all your ways will be established. Pro 4:27 Do not turn to the right hand or to the left; turn your foot aside from evil.
CHAPTER 5 Pro 5:1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom; stretch your ear to my understanding; Pro 5:2 so that you may keep judgment, and your lips may keep knowledge. Pro 5:3 For the lips of a strange woman drip honey, and her palate is sweeter than oil, Pro 5:4 but afterwards, she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a sword of mouths; Pro 5:5 her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell, Pro 5:6 lest you should meditate on the path of life, her tracks are movable, you cannot know them. Pro 5:7 Then hear me now, O sons, and do not depart from the words of my mouth. Pro 5:8 Remove your ways far from her, and do not come near to the door of her house, Pro 5:9 lest you give your honor to others, and your years to the cruel; Pro 5:10 that strangers not be filled with your strength, and your labors be in the house of an alien, Pro 5:11 and you moan when your end comes, when your flesh and muscle are eaten away; Pro 5:12 and say, How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised correction; Pro 5:13 and I have not heard the voice of my teachers, nor stretched my ear to those instructing me. Pro 5:14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly. Pro 5:15 Drink waters out of your own cistern, and running waters out of your own well. Pro 5:16 Should your overflowing springs be scattered outside, like rivers of waters in the streets? Pro 5:17 Let them be only your own, and not to strangers with you; Pro 5:18 let your fountains be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth; Pro 5:19 she is a loving deer, a graceful doe; let her breasts satisfy you every time, and always be ravished in her love. Pro 5:20 And my son, why will you be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace a foreigner's bosom? Pro 5:21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah, and He ponders all his tracks. Pro 5:22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be held with the cords of his sin. Pro 5:23 He shall die without instruction, and in the greatness of his foolishness he shall go astray.
CHAPTER 6 Pro 6:1 My son, if you are surety for your friend, if you struck your hands with an alien, Pro 6:2 you are snared with the words of your mouth; you are captured with the words of your own mouth. Pro 6:3 My son, do this then, and deliver yourself when you come into the hand of your friend: go lower yourself and be bold to your friend. Pro 6:4 Do not give sleep to your eyes, or slumber to your eyelids. Pro 6:5 Deliver yourself like a gazelle from a hand of a hunter, and as a bird from the fowler's hand. Pro 6:6 Go to the ant, lazy man; consider her ways and be wise; Pro 6:7 who, having no guide, overseer or ruler, Pro 6:8 provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest. Pro 6:9 How long will you lie down, O lazy man? When will you arise out of your sleep? Pro 6:10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to lie down; Pro 6:11 so shall your poverty come as one walking, and your need like an armed man. Pro 6:12 A worthless person, a wicked man, walks with a perverse mouth, Pro 6:13 winking with his eyes, speaking with his feet, teaching with his fingers. Pro 6:14 Perversity is in his heart; he is plotting evil at every time, he sends out strife. Pro 6:15 On account of this, calamity shall come suddenly; he is broken quickly and there is no healing. Pro 6:16 These six things Jehovah hates; yea, seven are hateful to his soul; Pro 6:17 a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, Pro 6:18 a heart that plots evil plans, feet hurrying to run to mischief, Pro 6:19 a false witness who breathes lies, and he who causes strife among brothers. Pro 6:20 My son, keep your father's commands, and do not forsake the law of your mother. Pro 6:21 Bind them to your heart forever; tie them around your neck. Pro 6:22 When you go, it shall lead you; when you sleep, it shall watch over you; and when you awaken, it will meditate with you. Pro 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light; and reproofs of instruction are a way of life, Pro 6:24 to keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of the strange woman. Pro 6:25 Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, and do not let her take you with her eyelids. Pro 6:26 For on account of a woman, a harlot, a man comes to the last loaf of bread, and another man's wife hunts for the precious soul. Pro 6:27 Can a man take fire into his bosom and his clothes not be burned? Pro 6:28 Or can a man walk on hot coals and his feet not be burned? Pro 6:29 So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife; everyone touching her shall not be innocent. Pro 6:30 They do not despise a thief, if he steals to fill his appetite when he is hungry. Pro 6:31 But if he is found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the goods of his house. Pro 6:32 He who commits adultery with a woman lacks heart; he who does it is a destroyer of his own soul. Pro 6:33 He shall find a wound and dishonor, and his shame shall not be wiped away. Pro 6:34 For jealousy is the rage of a man, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance. Pro 6:35 He will not lift up the face of every ransom, nor will he consent if you multiply the bribes.
CHAPTER 7 Pro 7:1 My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you. Pro 7:2 Keep my commands and live, and my law as the pupil of your eye. Pro 7:3 Tie them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. Pro 7:4 Say to wisdom, You are my sister, and call understanding your kinsman, Pro 7:5 so that they may keep you from the strange woman, from the alien with her flattering words. Pro 7:6 For I looked through my lattice, at the window of my house, Pro 7:7 and I saw among the simple ones, I observed among the sons a young man lacking heart, Pro 7:8 passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house, Pro 7:9 in the twilight, in the evening, in the black and darkness of night. Pro 7:10 And, behold, a woman came to meet him, with a harlot's dress, and a guarded heart; Pro 7:11 she is loud and stubborn; her feet do not rest in her own house. Pro 7:12 At this time she is outside, now in the streets, and she lies in wait at every corner; Pro 7:13 and she seizes him and kisses him; she hardens her face and says to him, Pro 7:14 Sacrifices of peace offerings are on me, today I have completed my vows; Pro 7:15 so I came out to meet you, earnestly to seek your face, and I have found you. Pro 7:16 I have spread my couch with coverings, with striped cloths of Egyptian linen. Pro 7:17 I have sprinkled my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon. Pro 7:18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning, let us delight ourselves with caresses. Pro 7:19 For my husband is not at his house; he is going in the way, far away. Pro 7:20 He has taken a bag of silver in his hand; at the day of the full moon he will enter his house. Pro 7:21 With the sum of her persuasion she turned him aside; with the flattering of her lips she forced him. Pro 7:22 He goes after her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter; or as one in fetters goes to the correction of a fool, Pro 7:23 until an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hastens to the snare, and not knowing that it is for his soul. Pro 7:24 Now, then, listen to me, O sons, and attend to the words of my mouth: Pro 7:25 Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways; do not go astray in her paths. Pro 7:26 For many are the wounded she has caused to fall; and plentiful all her slain ones. Pro 7:27 The ways of Sheol are in her house, leading down to the rooms of death.
CHAPTER 8 Pro 8:1 Does not wisdom call? And does not understanding speak? Pro 8:2 She stands in the top of high places, by the wayside, in the houses of the paths, Pro 8:3 beside the gates; at the mouth of the city, at the doors, she cries. Pro 8:4 I call to you, O men, and my voice is to the sons of men. Pro 8:5 Understand wisdom, simple ones; and fools, be of an understanding heart. Pro 8:6 Hear, for I will speak of excellent things, and from the opening of my lips shall be right things. Pro 8:7 For my mouth shall speak of truth, and wickedness is hateful to my lips. Pro 8:8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; nothing crooked or perverse is in them; Pro 8:9 they are all plain to the understanding one; and right to those who find knowledge. Pro 8:10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge, rather than choice gold. Pro 8:11 For wisdom is better than jewels, and all delights cannot be compared to it. Pro 8:12 I, wisdom, dwell with sense, and I find knowledge of discretions. Pro 8:13 The fear of Jehovah is to hate evil; I hate pride and loftiness, and the evil way, and the perverse mouth. Pro 8:14 Counsel and sound wisdom are mine; I am understanding; I have strength. Pro 8:15 By me kings reign, and leaders decree righteousness. Pro 8:16 Rulers and nobles rule by me, and all the judges of the earth. Pro 8:17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me early find me. Pro 8:18 Riches and honor are with me; enduring wealth and righteousness. Pro 8:19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my increase is better than the best silver. Pro 8:20 I walk in the path of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice; Pro 8:21 to cause those who love me to inherit wealth, and I will fill up their treasuries. Pro 8:22 Jehovah possessed me in the beginning of His way, from then, before His works. Pro 8:23 I was set up from everlasting, from that which was before the earth. Pro 8:24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no springs heavy with water. Pro 8:25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth; Pro 8:26 before He had made the earth and the fields, or the highest part of the dust of the world. Pro 8:27 When He prepared the heavens, I was there; when He set a circle on the face of the deep, Pro 8:28 when He formed the clouds above, when He made the strong fountains of the deep, Pro 8:29 when He gave to the sea its limit, that the waters should not pass beyond His command; when He decreed the foundations of the earth, Pro 8:30 then I was at His side, like a master workman; and I was His delights day by day, rejoicing before Him at every time; Pro 8:31 rejoicing in the world, His earth; and my delight was with the sons of men. Pro 8:32 And now listen to me, O sons, for blessed are those who keep my ways. Pro 8:33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and do not refuse it. Pro 8:34 Blessed is the man listening to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. Pro 8:35 For whoever finds me finds life, and he shall obtain favor from Jehovah. Pro 8:36 But he who sins against me does violence to his own soul; all who hate me love death.
CHAPTER 9 Pro 9:1 Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out her seven pillars; Pro 9:2 she has slaughtered her slaughter; she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table. Pro 9:3 She has sent out her maidens; she cries on the highest places of the city; Pro 9:4 The simple one, turn in here; and to one lacking heart, she says to him, Pro 9:5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine I have mixed. Pro 9:6 Forsake the foolish, and live, and go in the way of understanding. Pro 9:7 He who reproves a scorner gets shame to himself; and he who rebukes a wicked man gets his own blot. Pro 9:8 Do not reprove a scorner, that he not hate you; rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. Pro 9:9 Give to a wise one, and he will be more wise; teach a just one, and he will increase in learning. Pro 9:10 The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Pro 9:11 For by me your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased. Pro 9:12 If you are wise, you shall be wise for yourself, but if you scorn, you alone shall bear it. Pro 9:13 A foolish woman is noisy; she is thoughtless, and she knows not what. Pro 9:14 And she sits at the door of her house, in a seat in the high places of the city, Pro 9:15 to call those who pass by, who are going straight on their ways, Pro 9:16 The simple one, let him turn in here; and to the one lacking heart, she says to him, Pro 9:17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. Pro 9:18 But he does not know that the departed spirits are there; her guests are in the depths of hell.
CHAPTER 10 Pro 10:1 The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes a father rejoice, but the foolish son is his mother's sorrow. Pro 10:2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death. Pro 10:3 Jehovah will not allow the soul of the righteous to go hungry, but He pushes away the desire of the wicked. Pro 10:4 He who works with a lazy hand becomes poor, but the hand of the hard worker makes him rich. Pro 10:5 He who gathers in summer is a prudent son; he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame. Pro 10:6 Blessings are on the head of the just, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked. Pro 10:7 The memory of the just is blessed, but the name of the wicked shall rot. Pro 10:8 The wise in heart accepts commands, but the foolish of lips shall be thrust away. Pro 10:9 He who walks in integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways shall be found out. Pro 10:10 He who winks the eye causes sorrow, but the foolish of lips shall be thrust away. Pro 10:11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked. Pro 10:12 Hatred stirs up fights, but love covers all transgressions. Pro 10:13 Wisdom is found in the lips of him who has understanding, but a rod is waiting for the back of him who lacks heart. Pro 10:14 The wise store up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin. Pro 10:15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the ruin of the poor is their poverty. Pro 10:16 The labor of the righteous is for life; the gain of the wicked is for sin. Pro 10:17 He who heeds instruction is in the way of life, but he who refuses reproof is going astray. Pro 10:18 He who hides hatred with lying lips, and he who sends out a slander, he is a fool. Pro 10:19 In the abundance of words transgression does not cease, but one restraining his lips is prudent. Pro 10:20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver; the heart of the wicked is as a little. Pro 10:21 The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of heart. Pro 10:22 The blessing of Jehovah, it makes rich, and he adds no pain with it. Pro 10:23 To work out evil devices is as laughter to the foolish; so wisdom is to a man of understanding. Pro 10:24 That which the wicked fears shall come upon him, but the desire of the righteous is granted. Pro 10:25 As the storm passes, so the wicked is not; but the righteous is an everlasting foundation. Pro 10:26 Like vinegar to the teeth, and like smoke to the eyes, so is the lazy one to those who send him. Pro 10:27 The fear of Jehovah prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be cut short. Pro 10:28 The expectation of the righteous is joyful, but the hope of the wicked shall perish. Pro 10:29 The way of Jehovah is strength to the upright, but ruin is to doers of iniquity. Pro 10:30 The righteous shall never be moved, and the wicked shall not dwell in the land. Pro 10:31 The mouth of the just flourishes with wisdom, but the perverse tongue shall be cut off. Pro 10:32 The lips of the righteous know what is pleasing, but the mouth of the wicked knows only perversities. |

CHAPTER 11 Pro 11:1 False balances are hateful to Jehovah, but a perfect stone is His delight. Pro 11:2 Pride comes, then shame comes, but with the lowly is wisdom. Pro 11:3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the perversity of traitors will devastate them. Pro 11:4 Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. Pro 11:5 The righteousness of the perfect shall make his way right, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness. Pro 11:6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them, but traitors shall be taken in their lust. Pro 11:7 In the death of a wicked man, his expectation shall perish, and the hope of the unjust shall be lost. Pro 11:8 The righteous is delivered from distress, and the wicked goes in instead of him. Pro 11:9 The ungodly is corrupting his neighbor with his mouth, but the just is delivered by knowledge. Pro 11:10 When the righteous prospers, the city rejoices; and at the wicked's perishing is singing. Pro 11:11 A city is lifted up by the blessing of the upright, but by the wicked's mouth it is overthrown. Pro 11:12 One despising his friend lacks heart, but an understanding man remains silent. Pro 11:13 One going with slander is a revealer of secrets, but the faithful of spirit keeps a matter hidden. Pro 11:14 In the absence of wise counsels the people fall, but safety is in abundance of counselors. Pro 11:15 One suffers evil when he is surety for a stranger, but one hating strikers of hands is trusted. Pro 11:16 A gracious woman holds to honor, and terrifying men hold to riches. Pro 11:17 A merciful man does good to his own soul, but the cruel troubles his own flesh. Pro 11:18 The wicked makes a deceitful wage, but one sowing righteousness has a reward of truth. Pro 11:19 So righteousness leads to life, but one pursuing evil, to his death. Pro 11:20 Hateful to Jehovah are the perverse hearted, but His delight is the upright in way. Pro 11:21 Though hand join to hand, the evil shall not be innocent, but the righteous seed escapes. Pro 11:22 As a ring of gold in a swine's snout, so is a woman who is beautiful, yet turning aside discretion. Pro 11:23 The desire of the righteous is only good, the hope of the wicked is wrath. Pro 11:24 There is one who scatters yet increases more; but a withholder of just due comes only to poverty. Pro 11:25 The blessed soul will be made fat; he who waters will also drink fully. Pro 11:26 One holding back grain, the people curse him; but a blessing is to the head of one selling grain. Pro 11:27 He who early is seeking good seeks favor; but one pursuing evil, it shall come to him. Pro 11:28 One trusting in his riches, he shall fall; but like a green leaf the righteous shall sprout. Pro 11:29 One troubling his house inherits the wind; and the fool is servant to the wise of heart. Pro 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he who takes hold of souls is wise. Pro 11:31 Behold, the righteous shall be rewarded in the earth; much more the wicked and the sinner.
CHAPTER 12 Pro 12:1 Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is like a brute animal. Pro 12:2 The good obtain grace from Jehovah, but He will condemn a man of wicked devices. Pro 12:3 A man shall not be established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous shall not be dislodged. Pro 12:4 A woman of virtue is a crown to her lord, but one causing shame is like rottenness in his bones. Pro 12:5 The thoughts of the righteous are right; the counsels of the wicked are deceit. Pro 12:6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them. Pro 12:7 Overthrow the wicked, and they are not; but the house of the righteous stands. Pro 12:8 A man shall be praised according to his wisdom, but he who is of a crooked heart shall be despised. Pro 12:9 He who is despised, and has a servant, is better than one honoring himself and lacking bread. Pro 12:10 The righteous knows the life of his animal, but the mercies of the wicked are cruel. Pro 12:11 He who tills his land shall be satisfied with bread, but he chasing vanities lacks heart. Pro 12:12 The wicked desires the net of evils, but the root of the righteous gives fruit. Pro 12:13 In the transgression of the lips is the snare of evil, but the righteous will come out from distress. Pro 12:14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of the mouth, and the dealing of a man's hand shall be given back to him. Pro 12:15 The way of a fool is upright in his own eyes, but he who listens to advice is wise. Pro 12:16 A fool's vexation is known in a day, but the astute one covers shame. Pro 12:17 He who breathes faithfulness reveals righteousness, but a false witness deceit. Pro 12:18 There is a rash speaking like thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise is healing. Pro 12:19 The lips of truth are established forever, but a lying tongue lasts only while I wink. Pro 12:20 Deceit is in the heart of those who plot evil, but to counselors of peace is joy. Pro 12:21 No trouble shall be sent to the just, but the wicked shall be filled with evil. Pro 12:22 Lying lips are hateful to Jehovah, but those who deal faithfulness are His delight. Pro 12:23 A wise man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools calls out their folly. Pro 12:24 The hand of the hard worker shall rule, but the lazy ones will become forced labor. Pro 12:25 Heaviness in a man's heart makes it droop, but a good word makes it glad. Pro 12:26 The righteous searches out with his friend, but the way of the wicked leads them astray. Pro 12:27 A person of laziness does not start after his prey, but the wealth of a working man is precious. Pro 12:28 In the way of righteousness is life, and in that pathway is no death.
CHAPTER 13 Pro 13:1 A wise son hears his father's instruction, but a scorner does not hear rebuke. Pro 13:2 From the fruit of his mouth a man eats good, but the desire of the deceiver is violence. Pro 13:3 He who guards his mouth keeps his life; he who opens his lips wide is ruined. Pro 13:4 The sluggard's soul is craving, but is not getting, but the soul of the hard workers shall be made fat. Pro 13:5 The righteous hates lying, but the wicked is odious and acts shamefully. Pro 13:6 Righteousness keeps the upright one in the way, but wickedness subverts a sin-offering. Pro 13:7 There are those who act rich, yet have nothing at all; and those who act poor, yet have great wealth. Pro 13:8 The ransom of a man's life is his riches, but the poor man does not hear rebuke. Pro 13:9 The light of the righteous rejoices, but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. Pro 13:10 Argument only comes by pride, but wisdom is with those who take advice. Pro 13:11 Wealth from vanity shall be diminished, but he who gathers by labor shall increase. Pro 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a tree of life is desire coming. Pro 13:13 He who despises the Word shall be destroyed, but he who fears the Commandment shall be rewarded. Pro 13:14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. Pro 13:15 Good sense gives grace, but the way of traitors is ever flowing. Pro 13:16 Every prudent one deals with knowledge, but a fool lays open his foolishness. Pro 13:17 A wicked messenger falls into evil, but a faithful ambassador is healing. Pro 13:18 Poverty and shame shall be to him who refuses instruction, but he who keeps to correction shall be honored. Pro 13:19 The desire coming to pass is sweet to the soul, but to depart from evil is hateful to fools. Pro 13:20 He who walks with the wise shall be wise, but one associating with fools shall be broken. Pro 13:21 Evil pursues sinners, but the righteous shall be rewarded with good. Pro 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his son's sons, but the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. Pro 13:23 The tilled ground of the poor yields much food, but without justice, it is swept away. Pro 13:24 He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him seeks him with correction. Pro 13:25 The righteous eats to the satisfying of his appetite, but the belly of the wicked shall lack.
CHAPTER 14 Pro 14:1 A wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her own hands. Pro 14:2 He who walks in his uprightness fears Jehovah, but the perverse in his ways despises Him. Pro 14:3 A rod of pride is in the mouth of a fool, but the lips of the wise shall keep them. Pro 14:4 The stall is clean where there are no cattle, but much gain is by the strength of an ox. Pro 14:5 A faithful witness will not lie, but a false witness breathes lies. Pro 14:6 A scorner seeks wisdom, but finds it not, yet knowledge is swift to the discerning. Pro 14:7 Go from before a foolish man, or you will not know the lips of knowledge. Pro 14:8 The wisdom of the wise is to understand his way, but the foolishness of fools is deceit. Pro 14:9 Fools laugh at guilt offering, but among the righteous is favor. Pro 14:10 The heart knows the bitterness of its soul, and a stranger does not mix in its joy. Pro 14:11 The wicked's house shall be thrown down, but the tent of the upright will flourish. Pro 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it is the ways of death. Pro 14:13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of that joy is heaviness. Pro 14:14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, but a good man from himself. Pro 14:15 The simple believes every word, but the wise considers his step. Pro 14:16 The wise fears and departs from evil, but the fool rages and is sure. Pro 14:17 He who is short of temper acts foolishly; and a man of evil plots is hated. Pro 14:18 The simple inherit foolishness, but the wise are crowned with knowledge. Pro 14:19 The evil bow before the good; yea, the wicked at the gates of the just. Pro 14:20 The poor is hated even by his own neighbor, but the rich has many friends. Pro 14:21 He who despises his neighbor sins, but he who has mercy on the poor, Oh how happy is he! Pro 14:22 Do not those who think evil go astray? But mercy and truth will be to those who think of good. Pro 14:23 In all labor there is profit, but the talk of the lips tends only to poverty. Pro 14:24 The crown of the wise is their riches; the foolishness of fools is folly. Pro 14:25 A true witness delivers souls, but a deceitful witness speaks lies. Pro 14:26 In the fear of Jehovah is strong trust, and His sons shall have a hiding place. Pro 14:27 The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life, to turn away from snares of death. Pro 14:28 In the multitude of people is the king's glory, but in the lack of people is the ruin of a prince. Pro 14:29 One slow to anger is of great understanding, but he who is short of spirit exalts folly. Pro 14:30 A healthy heart is the life of the flesh, but envy is the rottenness of the bones. Pro 14:31 He who oppresses the poor curses his Maker, but he who honors Him has mercy on the needy. Pro 14:32 The wicked is thrust out in his wickedness, but the righteous has hope in his death. Pro 14:33 Wisdom rests in the heart of the intelligent, but among fools it is revealed. Pro 14:34 Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a shame to any people. Pro 14:35 The king's favor is toward a servant who acts prudently, but his wrath takes place on one causing shame.
CHAPTER 15 Pro 15:1 A soft answer turns back wrath, but a hurtful word stirs up anger. Pro 15:2 The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours out foolishness. Pro 15:3 The eyes of Jehovah are in every place watching the evil and the good. Pro 15:4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it is a break of the spirit. Pro 15:5 A fool despises his father's instruction, but he keeping correction is sensible. Pro 15:6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but in the gain of the wicked is tumult. Pro 15:7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge, but the heart of the fool is not so. Pro 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is a hateful thing to Jehovah, but the prayer of the upright is His delight. Pro 15:9 The way of the wicked is hateful to Jehovah, but He loves him who pursues righteousness. Pro 15:10 Discipline is grievous to him who forsakes the way, he who hates reproof shall die. Pro 15:11 Hell and destruction are before Jehovah; even more the hearts of the sons of men! Pro 15:12 A scorner does not love one who corrects him, nor will he go to the wise. Pro 15:13 A joyful heart makes a good face, but by grief of heart the spirit is stricken. Pro 15:14 The heart of the understanding one seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on folly. Pro 15:15 All the days of the afflicted are evil, but gladness of heart is a continual feast. Pro 15:16 Better is a little with the fear of Jehovah than great treasure and tumult with it. Pro 15:17 Better is a dinner of vegetables where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred with it. Pro 15:18 A furious man stirs up quarreling, but he who is slow to anger calms fighting. Pro 15:19 The way of the lazy one is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the righteous is exalted. Pro 15:20 A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish man despises his mother. Pro 15:21 Foolishness is joy to him who lacks understanding, but a man of understanding directs his going. Pro 15:22 Without counsel purposes are broken, but by many counselors they rise. Pro 15:23 A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, and how good is a word in its season! Pro 15:24 The path of life is upward to the prudent, that he may turn away from Sheol downward. Pro 15:25 Jehovah will destroy the house of the proud, but He will set up the widow's border. Pro 15:26 The thoughts of the wicked are very hateful to Jehovah, but the words of pleasantness are pure. Pro 15:27 He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes shall live. Pro 15:28 The heart of the righteous muses how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things. Pro 15:29 Jehovah is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous. Pro 15:30 The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, a good report makes the bones fat. Pro 15:31 The ear that hears the reproof of life shall remain among the wise. Pro 15:32 He casting off correction despises his own soul, but he who hears reproof gets understanding. Pro 15:33 The fear of Jehovah is instruction in wisdom, and before honor is humility.
CHAPTER 16 Pro 16:1 Of man are plans of the heart, and the answer of the tongue is from Jehovah. Pro 16:2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but Jehovah weighs the spirits. Pro 16:3 Roll your works on Jehovah, and your thoughts shall be established. Pro 16:4 Jehovah has made all for His purpose, yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. Pro 16:5 Everyone proud in heart is disgusting to Jehovah; though hand join in hand he shall not be innocent. Pro 16:6 Iniquity is covered by mercy and truth, and in the fear of Jehovah, men turn aside from evil. Pro 16:7 When a man's ways please Jehovah, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Pro 16:8 Better is a little with righteousness than great increase without right. Pro 16:9 A man's heart plans his way, but Jehovah fixes his step. Pro 16:10 A godly decision is on the lips of the king, his mouth is not treacherous in judgment. Pro 16:11 A just scale and balances are to Jehovah, all the stones of the bag are His work. Pro 16:12 It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness, for the throne is made firm by righteousness. Pro 16:13 Righteous lips are the king's delight, and he speaking uprightly is loved. Pro 16:14 A king's fury is as messengers of death, but a wise man will cover it. Pro 16:15 In the light of the face of the king is life, and his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain. Pro 16:16 How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver. Pro 16:17 The way of the upright is to turn away from evil, he keeping his soul watches his way. Pro 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Pro 16:19 It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud. Pro 16:20 He who acts prudently shall find good, and he who trusts in Jehovah, Oh how happy is he! Pro 16:21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent, and sweetness of lips increases learning. Pro 16:22 Prudence is a fountain of life to those who own it, but the teaching of fools is folly. Pro 16:23 The heart of the wise makes his mouth prudent, and he adds learning on his lips. Pro 16:24 Pleasant words are an overflowing of honey, sweetness to the soul and healing to the bones. Pro 16:25 There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it is the ways of death. Pro 16:26 A laboring one labors for himself, for his mouth urges him on. Pro 16:27 A worthless man plots evil, and on his lips it is like a burning fire. Pro 16:28 A perverse man causes strife, and a whisperer separates close friends. Pro 16:29 A violent man lures his neighbor, and causes him to go in a way that is not good. Pro 16:30 He who shuts his eyes to plan perverse things, compressing his lips, he brings evil to pass. Pro 16:31 The gray head is a crown of glory; it is found in the way of righteousness. Pro 16:32 One slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city. Pro 16:33 The lot is cast into the lap, but all ordering of it is from Jehovah.
CHAPTER 17 Pro 17:1 Better is a dry piece of bread, and quietness with it, than a house full of sacrifices with fighting. Pro 17:2 A servant who acts prudently shall rule over a son who causes shame, and he shall have part of the inheritance among the brothers. Pro 17:3 The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, but Jehovah tries the hearts. Pro 17:4 An evildoer gives heed to lips of iniquity; a liar listens to a tongue of evil desire. Pro 17:5 Whoever scorns the poor reviles his Maker, he who rejoices at calamity shall not be innocent. Pro 17:6 Grandsons are the crown of old men, and the glory of sons are their fathers. Pro 17:7 An arrogant lip is not fitting for a fool, much less are lying lips for a noble. Pro 17:8 A bribe is a precious stone in the eyes of him who possesses it; everywhere he turns, he is prudent. Pro 17:9 He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates friends. Pro 17:10 A reproof enters more into one discerning than a hundred stripes into a fool. Pro 17:11 Rebellion seeks evil, so a cruel messenger is sent against him. Pro 17:12 Let a bear bereaved of her cubs meet a man, rather than a fool in his foolishness. Pro 17:13 Whoever rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house. Pro 17:14 The beginning of strife is like the releasing of water, therefore leave off fighting before it breaks out. Pro 17:15 He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, even both of them are disgusting to Jehovah. Pro 17:16 Why is there hire in a fool's hand to get wisdom, and there is no heart for it? Pro 17:17 A friend loves at every time, but a brother is born for distress. Pro 17:18 A man lacking heart strikes the hand, he pledges in the presence of his friend. Pro 17:19 He loving strife loves rebellion, he who exalts his door seeks shattering. Pro 17:20 One crooked of heart does not find good, and he who is perverse in his tongue falls into evil. Pro 17:21 He who fathers a fool has sorrow for it; yea, the father of a fool has no joy. Pro 17:22 A cheerful heart makes good healing, but a stricken spirit dries the bone. Pro 17:23 The wicked takes a bribe out of the bosom to pervert the paths of justice. Pro 17:24 With the face of the wise is wisdom, but a fool's eyes are in the ends of the earth. Pro 17:25 A foolish son is a vexation to his father, and bitterness to her who bore him. Pro 17:26 And it is not good to punish the just, to strike leaders for uprightness. Pro 17:27 He who restrains his words knows knowledge, and one cool of spirit is a man of understanding. Pro 17:28 Even a fool who is silent is counted wise, he who shuts his lips is counted as discerning.
CHAPTER 18 Pro 18:1 He who separates himself seeks his own desire, he breaks out against all sound wisdom. Pro 18:2 A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in uncovering his heart. Pro 18:3 When the wicked comes, scorn also comes, and with shame comes reproach. Pro 18:4 The words of a man's mouth are like deep waters, the fountain of wisdom like a flowing stream. Pro 18:5 To lift up the face of the wicked is not good, nor to turn aside the righteous in judgment. Pro 18:6 A fool's lips enter into strife, and his mouth calls for strokes. Pro 18:7 A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are a snare of his soul. Pro 18:8 The words of a slanderer are greedily swallowed; yea, they go down into the innermost chambers of the belly. Pro 18:9 And he who is slack in his work, he is a brother to a master destroyer. Pro 18:10 The name of Jehovah is a tower of strength, the righteous runs into it and is set on high. Pro 18:11 The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his imagination. Pro 18:12 Before shattering, a man's heart is haughty, but humility goes before honor. Pro 18:13 If one rejects a matter before he hears, it is folly and shame to him. Pro 18:14 The spirit of a man will nourish his sickness, but who can bear a wounded spirit? Pro 18:15 The heart of the prudent gets knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. Pro 18:16 A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men. Pro 18:17 He who is first in his cause seems just, but his neighbor comes and searches him. Pro 18:18 The lot causes arguments to cease, and divides between the mighty. Pro 18:19 An offended brother is worse than a fortified city; yea, their contentions are like the bars of a castle. Pro 18:20 A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; he shall be satisfied with the produce of his lips. Pro 18:21 Death and life are in the hand of the tongue, and those who love it shall eat its fruit. Pro 18:22 Whoever finds a wife finds good, and gets favor from Jehovah. Pro 18:23 The poor speak with entreaties, but the rich answer fiercely. Pro 18:24 A man of friends may be broken up, but there is a Lover who sticks closer than a brother.
CHAPTER 19 Pro 19:1 The poor who walks in his integrity is better than he who is perverse in his lips, who is a fool. Pro 19:2 Also, without knowledge the soul is not good, and he who hurries with his feet sins. Pro 19:3 The foolishness of man overturns his way, and his heart rages against Jehovah. Pro 19:4 Wealth makes many friends, but the poor is separated from his neighbor. Pro 19:5 A false witness shall not be acquitted; yea, a breather of lies shall not escape. Pro 19:6 Many will beg the favor of a noble, and all are friends to him who gives gifts. Pro 19:7 All the poor man's brothers hate him, and his friends also surely leave him; he pursues them with words, yet they are not. Pro 19:8 He who gets heart loves his own soul, he who keeps understanding finds good. Pro 19:9 A false witness shall not be acquitted; yea, he who speaks lies shall perish. Pro 19:10 Luxury is not becoming for a fool, much less for a servant to rule over princes. Pro 19:11 A man's discretion makes his anger slow, and his glory is to pass over a transgression. Pro 19:12 The king's wrath is like a lion's roar, but his favor is like dew on the grass. Pro 19:13 A foolish son is a ruin to his father, and a wife's quarreling a never ending dripping. Pro 19:14 House and riches are the inheritance of fathers, but a prudent wife is from Jehovah. Pro 19:15 Laziness makes one fall into a deep sleep, and an idle soul shall suffer hunger. Pro 19:16 He who keeps the Commandment keeps his own soul, he who despises His ways shall die. Pro 19:17 He who has pity on the poor lends to Jehovah, and He will repay his dealing to him. Pro 19:18 Chasten your son, for there is hope, and do not set your soul on making him die. Pro 19:19 A man great of fury will bear the penalty, for if you deliver him, then you must do it again. Pro 19:20 Hear advice and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end. Pro 19:21 Many purposes are in a man's heart, but the counsel of Jehovah shall stand. Pro 19:22 The desirableness of a man is his kindness, and a poor man is better than a liar. Pro 19:23 The fear of Jehovah tends to life, and he shall rest satisfied, he shall not be visited with evil. Pro 19:24 A lazy one puts his hand in a dish, and he will not return it to his mouth. Pro 19:25 Strike a scorner and the simple will be shrewd; reprove a discerner, and he will discern knowledge. Pro 19:26 He who assaults his father and chases his mother away, he is a son who causes shame and brings reproach. Pro 19:27 My son, cease to hear the chastening, and you will err from the words of knowledge. Pro 19:28 A worthless witness scorns justice, and the mouth of the wicked devours evil. Pro 19:29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and blows for the backs of fools.
CHAPTER 20 Pro 20:1 Wine is a mocker, fermented drink is stirring, and each one straying by it is not wise. Pro 20:2 The fear of a king is as the roar of a lion, he who stirs him up to anger wrongs his own soul. Pro 20:3 For a man to cease from strife is an honor, but every fool exposes himself. Pro 20:4 The lazy man will not plow, after autumn he begs at harvest, and nothing is there. Pro 20:5 Counsel in a man's heart is like deep water, and a man of understanding will draw it out. Pro 20:6 Most men will proclaim each his own kindness, but who can find a faithful man? Pro 20:7 The just one walks in his integrity, blessed are his sons after him! Pro 20:8 A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes. Pro 20:9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? Pro 20:10 A stone and a stone, an ephah and an ephah, both are hateful to Jehovah. Pro 20:11 Even a child is known by his acts, whether his work is pure, or upright. Pro 20:12 The hearing ear and the seeing eye, Jehovah has even made both of them. Pro 20:13 Do not love sleep, lest you become poor; open your eyes, be satisfied with bread. Pro 20:14 Bad! Bad! says the buyer, but when it is left to him, then he boasts. Pro 20:15 There is gold and a multitude of gems, but the lips of knowledge are a rare vessel. Pro 20:16 Take the garment of the one who is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge from one who guarantees for strangers. Pro 20:17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel. Pro 20:18 Purposes are established in counsel; yea, make war with wise guidance. Pro 20:19 A revealer of secrets walks about as a gossip, so do not meddle with him who opens his lips wide. Pro 20:20 Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in deep darkness. Pro 20:21 An inheritance may be gotten quickly in the beginning, but the end of it shall not be blessed. Pro 20:22 Do not say, I will repay evil; wait on Jehovah, and He will save you. Pro 20:23 A stone and a stone are hateful to Jehovah; and a false balance is not good. Pro 20:24 The steps of a man are from Jehovah, and what can man discern of his way? Pro 20:25 It is a snare to a man to say rashly, A holy thing, and after the vows to inquire about it. Pro 20:26 A wise king scatters the wicked and turns the wheel over them. Pro 20:27 The spirit of man is the lamp of Jehovah, searching all the inward parts of the heart. Pro 20:28 Mercy and truth preserve the king, and his throne is upheld by mercy. Pro 20:29 The glory of young men is their vigor, and the honor of old men is the gray head. Pro 20:30 The stripes of a wound cleanse away evil, and strokes the inward parts of the heart. |

CHAPTER 21 Pro 21:1 As streams of waters, the king's heart is in the hand of Jehovah; He turns it wherever He desires. Pro 21:2 Every way of a man is upright in his own eyes, but Jehovah measures the hearts. Pro 21:3 For Jehovah, to do righteousness and justice is to be chosen more than sacrifice. Pro 21:4 High eyes, a proud heart, and the uncultivated mind of the wicked, is sin. Pro 21:5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenty, but those of every hasty one only to poverty. Pro 21:6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vapor driven by those who seek death. Pro 21:7 The violence of the wicked drags them down, because they refuse to do justice. Pro 21:8 The way of a guilty man is perverted; but the pure, his way is upright. Pro 21:9 It is better to dwell on a corner of a housetop, than with a contentious woman, and to share a house. Pro 21:10 The soul of the wicked desires evil, his neighbor finds no favor in his eyes. Pro 21:11 The simple is made wise when the scorner is punished, and when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge. Pro 21:12 The Righteous One wisely considers the house of the wicked: He overthrows the wicked for his evil. Pro 21:13 Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he himself shall also call, and shall not be answered. Pro 21:14 A gift in secret subdues anger; yea, a bribe in the bosom quiets great fury. Pro 21:15 It is joy to the just to do justice, but ruin shall come to the workers of iniquity. Pro 21:16 The man who wanders out of the way of prudence shall rest in the congregation of departed spirits. Pro 21:17 A man who loves pleasure shall be poor, he who loves wine and oil shall not be rich. Pro 21:18 The wicked shall be a ransom for the just, and the treacherous in the place of the upright. Pro 21:19 It is better to live in a land of the wilderness than with a woman of strivings and anger. Pro 21:20 A desirable treasure and oil are in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man swallows it. Pro 21:21 He who pursues righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness and honor. Pro 21:22 A wise one ascends the city of the mighty and topples the strength in which it trusts. Pro 21:23 Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from distresses. Pro 21:24 Proud, haughty scorner is his name, he who deals in proud wrath. Pro 21:25 The lust of the lazy man kills him, for his hands have refused to work. Pro 21:26 He lusts with lust all the day long, but the righteous gives and does not withhold. Pro 21:27 The sacrifice of the wicked is hateful, how much more when he brings it with an evil intent! Pro 21:28 A false witness shall perish, but the man who attends will speak forever. Pro 21:29 A wicked man hardens his face, but the upright establishes his way. Pro 21:30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel before Jehovah. Pro 21:31 The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but to Jehovah belongs deliverance.
CHAPTER 22 Pro 22:1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches; rather than silver or gold, favor is better. Pro 22:2 The rich and poor meet together, Jehovah is the Maker of all of them. Pro 22:3 A sensible one sees the evil and hides himself, but the simple go on and are punished. Pro 22:4 The reward of humility is the fear of Jehovah, riches, and honor, and life. Pro 22:5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse, he who keeps his soul shall be far from them. Pro 22:6 Train up a boy on the opening of his way, even when he is old, he will not turn aside from it. Pro 22:7 The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to a man who lends. Pro 22:8 He who sows injustice will reap evil, and the rod of his wrath shall fail. Pro 22:9 He who has a good eye, he is blessed, for he gives of his bread to the poor. Pro 22:10 Throw the scorner out and strife shall go out; yea, quarrels and shame shall cease. Pro 22:11 He who loves pureness of heart, grace is on his lips; the king shall be his friend. Pro 22:12 The eyes of Jehovah keep knowledge, and He overthrows the words of the treacherous. Pro 22:13 The lazy one says, A lion is outside! I will be killed in the streets! Pro 22:14 The mouth of alien women is a deep pit; those despised by Jehovah shall fall there. Pro 22:15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a boy, the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. Pro 22:16 One oppresses the poor to multiply for himself, another gives to the rich, only to come to poverty. Pro 22:17 Stretch your ear and hear the words of the wise, and set your heart to my knowledge, Pro 22:18 for they are pleasant when you keep them within you; they shall all be fixed together on your lips, Pro 22:19 so that your trust may be in Jehovah. I caused you to know today, even you. Pro 22:20 Have I not written to you yesterday and the day before with counsels and knowledge, Pro 22:21 to cause you to know the certainty of the words of truth, to return the words of truth to those who send to you? Pro 22:22 Rob not the poor because he is poor, and oppress not the afflicted in the gate. Pro 22:23 For Jehovah will contend for their cause, and will plunder the soul of their plunderers. Pro 22:24 Do not feed a possessor of anger, and do not go in with a man of fury, Pro 22:25 lest you learn his ways and take a snare for your soul. Pro 22:26 Do not be one of those who strike the hand, those who are sureties for loans. Pro 22:27 If you have nothing to repay, why should he take away your bed from under you? Pro 22:28 Do not move the old landmark which your fathers have set. Pro 22:29 Do you see a man who is prompt in his work? He shall stand before kings, he shall not stand before obscure men.
CHAPTER 23 Pro 23:1 When you sit down to eat with a ruler, look carefully at what is before you, Pro 23:2 and put a knife to your throat if you are an owner of an appetite. Pro 23:3 Do not desire his delicacies, for it is the bread of lies. Pro 23:4 Do not labor to be rich, cease from your own understanding. Pro 23:5 Will your eyes fly on it? And it is not! For surely it makes wings for itself, it flies into the heavens like an eagle. Pro 23:6 Do not eat the bread of one having an evil eye, and do not desire his delicacies, Pro 23:7 for as he reasons in his heart, so is he! He says to you, Eat and drink, but his heart is not with you. Pro 23:8 You shall vomit the bit you have eaten and spoil your pleasant words. Pro 23:9 Do not speak in the ears of a fool, for he will despise the good sense of your words. Pro 23:10 Do not move the old landmark, and do not enter into the fields of the fatherless, Pro 23:11 for their Redeemer is mighty, He will contend for their cause with you. Pro 23:12 Bring your heart in for instruction, and your ears to the words of knowledge. Pro 23:13 Do not withhold correction from a boy, for if you strike him with the rod, he will not die. Pro 23:14 You shall strike him with the rod, and you shall deliver him from Sheol. Pro 23:15 My son, if your heart is wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine. Pro 23:16 And my reins shall rejoice when your lips speak right things. Pro 23:17 Do not let your heart envy sinners, but only be in the fear of Jehovah all the day. Pro 23:18 For surely there is a hereafter, and your hope shall not be cut off. Pro 23:19 My son, hear, you, and be wise, and advance your heart in the way. Pro 23:20 Be not among heavy drinkers of wine, with gluttons, flesh to themselves, Pro 23:21 for the drunkard and the glutton lose all, and sleepiness shall clothe one with rags. Pro 23:22 Listen to your father, this one fathered you, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Pro 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not, also wisdom, and instruction and understanding. Pro 23:24 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice, and he who fathers a wise one shall even be glad in him. Pro 23:25 Your father and your mother shall be glad, and she who bore you shall rejoice. Pro 23:26 My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes watch my ways. Pro 23:27 For a harlot is a deep pit, and a strange woman is a narrow well. Pro 23:28 Surely she lies in wait, as for prey, and she increases the treacherous among men. Pro 23:29 Who has woe, who sorrow? Who has contentions, who has babbling? Who has wounds without cause? Who has dullness of eyes? Pro 23:30 Those who stay long at the wine, those who go to seek mixed wine. Pro 23:31 Do not look at the wine when it is red, when it gives its color in the cup, when it goes down smoothly, Pro 23:32 at its last it bites like a snake, and it stings like an adder. Pro 23:33 Your eyes shall look on strange women, and your heart shall speak perverse things; Pro 23:34 yes, you shall be as one who lies down in the middle of the sea, or as he who lies on the top of a mast, Pro 23:35 saying, They struck me! I was not sick! They beat me, yet I did not know. When I awaken I will add to it, I will still seek it.
CHAPTER 24 Pro 24:1 Do not envy evil men, nor desire to be with them. Pro 24:2 For their heart studies violence, and their lips talk of mischief. Pro 24:3 Through wisdom a house is built, and it is established by understanding, Pro 24:4 and by knowledge the inner parts shall be filled with precious and pleasant riches. Pro 24:5 A wise warrior is in strength: yes, a man of knowledge firms up power. Pro 24:6 For you shall make war for yourself by wise advice, and safety is in the abundance of counselors. Pro 24:7 Wisdom is too high for a fool, he does not open his mouth in the gate. Pro 24:8 He who plots to do evil shall be called a lord of evil plots. Pro 24:9 The plot of foolishness is sin, and the scorner is hateful to men. Pro 24:10 Your strength is small if you faint in the day of distress, Pro 24:11 if you hold back to deliver those being taken to death, and those stumbling for killing. Pro 24:12 For you say, Behold, we did not know this. Does not He who weighs the heart consider it? And the One who keeps your soul, does He not know? Yea, He repays to a man according to his work. Pro 24:13 My son, eat honey because it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to your palate; Pro 24:14 so shall knowledge of wisdom be to your soul when you have found there is a future and your hope is not cut off. Pro 24:15 Oh wicked one, do not lie in wait against the dwelling of the righteous; do not violate his resting place, Pro 24:16 for a just one falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked shall stumble into evil. Pro 24:17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles, Pro 24:18 that Jehovah not see and it be evil in His eyes, and He turn away His anger from him. Pro 24:19 Do not burn in anger because of evildoers, and do not envy the wicked; Pro 24:20 for no hereafter shall be to the evil; the lamp of the wicked will be put out. Pro 24:21 My son, fear Jehovah and the king; do not meddle with those who change, Pro 24:22 for their calamity shall rise suddenly, and who knows the ruin of both of them? Pro 24:23 These also are for the wise: to respect persons in judgment is not good. Pro 24:24 He who says to the wicked, You are righteous; the peoples shall curse him; nations shall abhor him. Pro 24:25 But to those who rebuke, it is pleasant, and a good blessing comes to them. Pro 24:26 He kisses the lips of one who returns right words. Pro 24:27 Prepare your work outside, and make it fit for yourself in the field, and afterwards build your house. Pro 24:28 Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, or deceive with your lips. Pro 24:29 Do not say, I will do to him as he has done to me; I will repay each according to his work. Pro 24:30 I went over the field of the lazy man, and by the vineyard of the man lacking heart, Pro 24:31 and, lo, it was all risen up with thistles; nettles had covered its surface, and its stone wall was broken down. Pro 24:32 And I beheld, I set my heart on it, I looked, I received instruction. Pro 24:33 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to lie down; Pro 24:34 so shall your poverty come stalking, and your want like a man with a shield.
CHAPTER 25 Pro 25:1 These are the proverbs of Solomon which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out: Pro 25:2 The glory of God is to conceal a thing, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter. Pro 25:3 The heavens for height, and the earth for depth, but the heart of kings is unsearchable. Pro 25:4 Take away the dross from the silver, and a vessel of the refiner's shall appear. Pro 25:5 Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne is established in righteousness. Pro 25:6 Do not honor yourself before a king, and do not stand in the place of the great. Pro 25:7 For it is better that he shall say to you, Come up here! than that you should be put lower before a noble whom your eyes have seen. Pro 25:8 Do not go out to fight hastily, lest you know not what to do in the end of it, when your neighbor has put you to shame. Pro 25:9 Contend for your cause with your neighbor, and do not uncover the secret of another, Pro 25:10 lest he who hears put you to shame, and your evil report not turn back. Pro 25:11 A word rightly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. Pro 25:12 As a ring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover on a hearing ear. Pro 25:13 Like the cold of snow in harvest time, so is a faithful messenger to those sending him, for he refreshes the soul of his masters. Pro 25:14 A man boasting himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind, but with no rain. Pro 25:15 In being slow to anger, a ruler is persuaded; and a soft tongue shatters the bone. Pro 25:16 Have you found honey? Eat only your fill lest you be satiated and vomit it out. Pro 25:17 Make your foot rare from your neighbor's house, lest he be full of you and hate you. Pro 25:18 A man who gives false witness against his neighbor is a maul, and a sword and a sharp arrow. Pro 25:19 Confidence in a treacherous man in time of distress is like a bad tooth and a slipping foot. Pro 25:20 As he who takes away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar on soda, so is he who sings songs on a heart in misery. Pro 25:21 If one hating you is hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink, Pro 25:22 for you shall heap coals of fire on his head, and Jehovah shall reward you. Pro 25:23 The north wind brings rain, so does a secret tongue an angry face. Pro 25:24 It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop than to share a house with a contentious woman. Pro 25:25 Like cold waters to a weary soul, so is a good report from a far country. Pro 25:26 The righteous falling down before the wicked is like a fouled fountain and a ruined spring. Pro 25:27 It is not good to eat much honey, and to search out their honor is not honor. Pro 25:28 A man to whom there is no control to his spirit is like a broken down city without a wall.
CHAPTER 26 Pro 26:1 As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honor is not right for a fool. Pro 26:2 As the wandering bird, as the swallow in its flying, so the causeless curse shall never come. Pro 26:3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the back of fools. Pro 26:4 Answer not a fool according to his foolishness, lest you become like him, even you. Pro 26:5 Answer a fool according to his foolishness, that he not be wise in his own eyes. Pro 26:6 He that sends a message by a fool's hand cuts off his own feet and drinks violence. Pro 26:7 As the legs of the lame are weak, so is a proverb in the mouth of fools. Pro 26:8 As he binding a stone on a sling, so is he giving honor to a fool. Pro 26:9 As a thorn goes up into the drunkard's hand, so is a proverb in the mouth of fools. Pro 26:10 Great is the Former of all things, but he who hires a fool is like one who hires those passing by. Pro 26:11 As a dog that returns to his own vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness. Pro 26:12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him. Pro 26:13 The lazy one says, A lion is in the way, a lion is between the streets! Pro 26:14 As the door turns on its hinge, so is the lazy one on his bed. Pro 26:15 The lazy one buries his hand in the dish; he is weary to bring it back to his mouth. Pro 26:16 The lazy one is wiser in his own eyes than seven that return a wise answer. Pro 26:17 One passing by, crossing himself over strife that is not his own, is like one who grabs a dog's ears. Pro 26:18 As one feigning weakness, throwing sparks, arrows and death, Pro 26:19 so is a man who deceives his neighbor and says, Am I not joking? Pro 26:20 The fire goes out where there is no wood, so the strife ceases where there is no whisperer. Pro 26:21 As coal to burning embers, and wood to fire, so is a contentious man to kindle strife. Pro 26:22 The words of a whisperer are as delicacies, and they go down into the chambers of the heart. Pro 26:23 As with silver dross spread over an earthen vessel, so are burning lips and a wicked heart. Pro 26:24 He who hates, dissembles with his lips, for he lays up deceit in his inner being; Pro 26:25 when his voice is gracious, do not believe him, for he has seven hateful things in his heart. Pro 26:26 Though his hatred is covered by guile, his evil shall be revealed in the assembly. Pro 26:27 He who digs a pit shall fall into it, and he who rolls a stone shall have it turn back on him. Pro 26:28 A lying tongue hates the ones it crushes, and a flattering mouth works stumbling.
CHAPTER 27 Pro 27:1 Do not boast in the day of tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. Pro 27:2 Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; let it be a stranger, and not your own lips. Pro 27:3 A stone is heavy, and sand a burden, but a fool's anger is heavier than both. Pro 27:4 Fury is fierce, and anger overflows, but who can stand before jealousy? Pro 27:5 Better is revealed reproof than secret love. Pro 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a lover, and plentiful are the kisses of one hating. Pro 27:7 One who is full tramples a honeycomb, but to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. Pro 27:8 A man wandering from his place is like a bird that wanders from the nest. Pro 27:9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart, and one's friend is sweet from the counsel of the soul. Pro 27:10 Do not forsake your friend, nor your father's friend, and do not go into your brother's house in the day of your calamity, for a near neighbor is better than a brother far away. Pro 27:11 My son, become wise and give joy to my heart, so that I may return a word to him that taunts me. Pro 27:12 A prudent man sees the evil and hides himself; the simple go on and are punished. Pro 27:13 Take the garment of him who is surety for a stranger, and hold him in pledge who is surety for a strange woman. Pro 27:14 He who rises early in the morning and blesses his friend with a loud voice, it is counted as cursing to him. Pro 27:15 Drops that never cease on a rainy day, and a contentious woman are alike; Pro 27:16 he who hides her hides the wind, and the ointment of his right hand cries out. Pro 27:17 Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens his friend's face. Pro 27:18 The keeper of the fig tree eats its fruit, so he keeping his master is honored. Pro 27:19 As face reflects face in the water, so the heart of man reflects a man. Pro 27:20 Sheol and destruction are never satisfied, so the eyes of man are never satisfied. Pro 27:21 The refining pot tries silver, and the furnace tries gold, but a man is tried by the mouth of his praise. Pro 27:22 If you pound a fool in the mortar with a pestle amidst grain, his foolishness will not turn away from him. Pro 27:23 Know well the face of your flock; set your heart on your herds, Pro 27:24 for wealth is not forever, nor the crown from generation to generation. Pro 27:25 When the grass is revealed, and the new grass is seen, and the mountain plants are taken up, Pro 27:26 the lambs will be for your clothing, and the he goats the price for a field, Pro 27:27 and there will be goat's milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, and for the life of your maidens.
CHAPTER 28 Pro 28:1 The wicked flee though no one is pursuing, but the righteous are as bold as a lion. Pro 28:2 Because of transgression in a land, many are its rulers, but it is prolonged by a man who has understanding, who knows right. Pro 28:3 A poor man that oppresses the weak is like a sweeping rain that leaves no food. Pro 28:4 Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law strive with them. Pro 28:5 Evil men do not understand justice, but those seeking Jehovah understand all. Pro 28:6 Better is the poor walking in his integrity than the perverse of two ways, even if he is rich. Pro 28:7 He who keeps the law is a wise son, but he who is one feeding gluttons shames his father. Pro 28:8 He who multiplies his wealth by interest and usury, he shall gather it for him who pities the weak. Pro 28:9 Whoever turns aside his ear from hearing the Law, even his prayer is an abomination. Pro 28:10 He who causes the upright to go astray in an evil way shall fall into his own pit, and the blameless shall inherit good. Pro 28:11 A rich man is wise in his own eyes, but the discerning poor searches him out. Pro 28:12 When the righteous rejoice, great is the glory, but when the wicked rise, a man will be sought for. Pro 28:13 He who covers his sins never prospers, but he who confesses and forsakes them shall have pity. Pro 28:14 Blessed is a man who is in awe constantly! But he who hardens his heart falls into evil. Pro 28:15 The wicked ruler is a roaring lion and a ranging bear over a poor people. Pro 28:16 The ruler that lacks understanding even adds oppressions, but he who hates unjust gain prolongs his days. Pro 28:17 Any man oppressed with the blood of a soul shall flee to the pit; let them not uphold him. Pro 28:18 He who walks uprightly shall be saved, but he who is perverse in his ways shall fall at once. Pro 28:19 He who cultivates his ground shall have plenty of bread, but one pursuing vanities shall have much poverty. Pro 28:20 A faithful man shall be full of blessings, but he rushing to be rich shall not be innocent. Pro 28:21 To respect faces is not good, yea, for a man will transgress for a piece of bread. Pro 28:22 A man with an evil eye hastens after wealth, but he does not know that poverty will come on him. Pro 28:23 He who reproves a man afterwards finds grace, more than he who flatters with the tongue. Pro 28:24 He who robs his father or his mother, and says, It is not a transgression, he shall be a partner to a man who corrupts. Pro 28:25 The proud in soul stirs up strife, but he who is trusting on Jehovah shall be abundantly satisfied. Pro 28:26 He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom shall be delivered. Pro 28:27 He who gives to the poor shall not lack, but he who hides his eyes shall have plenty of curses. Pro 28:28 When the wicked rise, a man hides himself; but when they perish, the righteous multiply.
CHAPTER 29 Pro 29:1 A man who hardens his neck when reproved shall be suddenly broken, and there will be no healing. Pro 29:2 When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people sigh. Pro 29:3 He who loves wisdom gladdens his father, but a feeder of harlots wastes wealth. Pro 29:4 A king establishes a land by justice, but a man taking bribes tears it down. Pro 29:5 A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his steps. Pro 29:6 A snare is in the transgression of an evil man, but the righteous sing and rejoice. Pro 29:7 The righteous attends to the cause of the poor; the wicked does not discern knowledge. Pro 29:8 Scornful men blast a city, but the wise turn away anger. Pro 29:9 If a wise man disputes with a foolish man, either he shakes, or laughs, and there is no rest. Pro 29:10 Men of blood hate the blameless, but the upright seek his soul. Pro 29:11 A fool brings out all of his spirit, but holding back, the wise quiets it. Pro 29:12 To a ruler who listens to lying words, all his ministers are wicked. Pro 29:13 The poor and the injurious man meet together. Jehovah enlightens the eyes of both. Pro 29:14 A king that truly judges the weak shall have his throne established forever. Pro 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a boy let loose causes shame to his mother. Pro 29:16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increases; but the righteous shall see their fall. Pro 29:17 Discipline your son, and you will get rest, and it will give delight to your soul. Pro 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained. But blessed is he, the one keeping the law. Pro 29:19 A servant is not corrected by words; though he discerns, there is no answer. Pro 29:20 Do you see a man hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than of him. Pro 29:21 He pampering his servant from youth, even afterwards in his days he shall be his successor. Pro 29:22 An angry man stirs up contention, and a furious one abounds in transgression. Pro 29:23 The pride of man brings him low, but the humble of spirit takes hold of honor. Pro 29:24 He who shares with a thief hates his soul; he hears a curse, but does not tell it. Pro 29:25 The fear of man brings a snare, but he trusting Jehovah is set on high. Pro 29:26 Many seek the face of the ruler, but the judgment of each man is from Jehovah. Pro 29:27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, and the upright of way are an abomination to the wicked.
CHAPTER 30 Pro 30:1 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, the burden: The man spoke to Ithiel, even to Ithiel and Ucal, saying, Pro 30:2 Surely I am more brutish than anyone, and I do not have the understanding of a man. Pro 30:3 I have not learned wisdom, but I do know the knowledge of holiness. Pro 30:4 Who has gone up to Heaven, and come down? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in His garments? Who has made all the ends of the earth to rise? What is His name, and what is His Son's name? Surely you know. Pro 30:5 Every Word of God is refined, He is a shield to those who seek refuge in Him. Pro 30:6 Do not add to His Words, that He not reprove you, and you be found a liar. Pro 30:7 I have asked two things from You: Do not hold back from me before I die: Pro 30:8 Remove vanity and a lying word far from me, do not give me poverty or riches; tear for me my portion of bread, Pro 30:9 that I not become satisfied and deceive, and say, Who is Jehovah? Or that I not become poor and steal, and violate the name of my God. Pro 30:10 Do not slander a servant to his master, that he not curse you, and you be found guilty. Pro 30:11 A generation curses its father, and does not bless its mother, Pro 30:12 a generation pure in its own eyes, and yet not washed from its own filth. Pro 30:13 There is a generation, Oh how lofty are its eyes! And its eyelids are lifted up, Pro 30:14 a generation whose teeth are like swords, and its jaw teeth like knives, to devour the poor from the earth, and the needy from among men. Pro 30:15 The leech has two daughters crying, Give! Give! Three things are not satisfied, four never have said, Enough! Pro 30:16 Sheol, and the barren womb, the earth not filled with water, and the fire, these never said, Enough! Pro 30:17 The eye that mocks its father and despises to obey its mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, the sons of the eagle shall eat it. Pro 30:18 Three things are too wonderful for me; yea, I do not know the way of four: Pro 30:19 The way of an eagle in the heavens, the way of a snake on a rock, the way of a ship in the heart of the sea, and the way of a man with a virgin. Pro 30:20 So is the way of an adulterous woman: she eats, and wipes her mouth, and says, I have done no evil. Pro 30:21 The earth quakes under three things; yea, it is not able to bear up under four: Pro 30:22 Under a servant when he reigns, and a fool when he is filled with food, Pro 30:23 under a hated one when she is married, under a slave-girl when she is heir to her mistress. Pro 30:24 Four things are little on the earth, but they are the wise ones of those made wise: Pro 30:25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in summer; Pro 30:26 rock badgers are not a powerful people, yet they make their houses in the rock; Pro 30:27 the locusts have no king, yet they go out in a swarm, all of them; Pro 30:28 the lizard you can take with the hands, yet it is in king's palaces. Pro 30:29 There are three things that do good in a march; yea, four that do good in walking: Pro 30:30 A lion is mighty among beasts, and he does not turn away from facing all; Pro 30:31 one girded in loins, and a he goat, and a king -- there is no rising up with him. Pro 30:32 If you have been foolish in lifting yourself up, or if you have thought evil, lay your hand on your mouth! Pro 30:33 Surely, the squeezing of milk brings curds, and the squeezing of the nose brings blood, so the squeezing of wrath brings out strife.
CHAPTER 31 Pro 31:1 The words of King Lemuel, the burden that his mother taught him: Pro 31:2 What, my son? And what, the son of my womb? And what, the son of my vows? Pro 31:3 Do not give your strength to women, or your ways to that which wipes out kings. Pro 31:4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes to lust for fermented drink, Pro 31:5 that they not drink and forget what is decreed, and pervert the right of the sons of affliction. Pro 31:6 Give fermented drink to one perishing, and wine to the bitter of soul, Pro 31:7 let him drink and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more. Pro 31:8 Open your mouth for the dumb, in the cause of all the sons of those passing away. Pro 31:9 Open your mouth, judge righteously, and defend the poor and needy. Pro 31:10 Who can find a woman of virtue? For her value is far above jewels. Pro 31:11 The heart of her husband trusts in her, so that he has no lack of gain. Pro 31:12 She deals good with him, and not evil, all the days of her life. Pro 31:13 She seeks wool and flax, and she works with her hands with delight. Pro 31:14 She is like the merchant ships, she brings in her food from afar. Pro 31:15 She also rises while it is still night and gives game to her household, and a portion to her maidens. Pro 31:16 She has examined a field and takes it; she plants a vineyard from the fruit of her hands. Pro 31:17 She has girded her loins with strength, and has made her arms strong. Pro 31:18 She tastes whether her gain is good, her lamp is not put out by night. Pro 31:19 She has sent forth her hands on the distaff, and her hands have held the spindle. Pro 31:20 She spreads out her hands to the poor, yea, she stretches out her hands to the needy. Pro 31:21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household, for all her household are clothed with scarlet. Pro 31:22 She makes herself ornamental coverings; her clothing is bleached linen and purple. Pro 31:23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits with the elders of the land. Pro 31:24 She makes fine linen garments, and sells, and she delivers girdles to the merchant. Pro 31:25 Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she shall rejoice at the day to come. Pro 31:26 She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the law of kindness is on her tongue. Pro 31:27 She watches the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.
