| Editorial: A note to Paul Heyman: I love you man! |
| Item! My eyes are tearing. My beloved has left me. ECW is gone. But never forgotten. ECW, Extreme Championship Wrestling, is dead. But only in the financial sense of the word. Paul Heyman owner and creator of Eastern Championship Wrestling changed his name and his feds name. Paul E. Dangerously opened Extreme Championship wrestling in the 90s. It was a new form of Wrestling, one for the fans. Its talent base rested solely in fresh talent. It had no Hogan or Stone cold although it did have steve austin at one time. Yet so much of WWF and now formerly WCW owe there sucess to this renegade federation. It invented hardcore and forced a style of wrestling so far down this country's throat that WWF and WCW sat up and listened. Within months of ECW's hightend success WWF an WCW had invented hardcore titles. Ironically the first champions were both former ECW men Mick Foley and Terry Funk. Aside from that it was the balls out table using chair swingin cursing ways of New York's favorite son that changed WWF and WCW for the better. And to think this was all from a man who conducted interviews and video editing from his mother's basement. Paul Heyman spent all of his own money and invested his life in ECW. He couldn't pay his men sometimes but they never missed a show. He never undersold an event and he never disappointed. Many have attempted to copy his style but it lacked the same elements of ECW. There was something about the way it was that made it so fun to watch. Maybe it was the great wrestling or the fantastic characters. Maybe it was the hardcore ways or the pure wrestling abilities of the roster. Whatever it was. No fed has ever compared or ever will. I love you Paul Heyman and you are my hero. I love your commentary in WWF, you kick lawlers ass, XPW will never compare and last bujt not least you made wrestling what it is today, not Vincent K. Macmahon. |
