Hershey Bears 4, Philadelphia Phantoms 3 (SO)
=================================

HERSHEY, PA -- Marthieu Darche had a hat trick and Eric Perrin scored in the
shootout to help the Hershey Bears close out 2004 with a 4-3 triumph over the
Philadelphia Phantoms on Friday. Darche scored on the power play midway
through the second period and rallied his club with two goals late in the
final stanza to even the score at 3-3. Perrin beat goaltender Antero
Niittymaki to make it a 2-0 shootout lead after three rounds. R.J. Umberger of
Philadelphia failed to extend the session when his shot was muffled by Peter
Budaj in the fourth round. Budaj finished with 37 saves in the win for
Hershey, which has taken a season-high three straight and four of its last
five. Niittymaki ended with 28 saves in defeat. Patrick Sharp, Jon Sim and
Todd Fedoruk, who had two fighting majors in the contest, each recorded a goal
for the Phantoms, who lost on the road to the Bears for the first time since
the 2002-03 season. 1
