BRIDGEPORT, CT -- Blaine Down netted the deciding shootout goal for the
Bridgeport Sound Tigers in a 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phantoms on
Wednesday. With his team up 2-1 heading into the fourth round of the session,
Down beat goaltender Antero Niittymaki to seal the win. Chris Campoli had a
goal, Steve Regier tied the score at 2-2 with one second left in regulation
and Dieter Kochan stopped 28 shots for Bridgeport, which has won five of its
last six on home ice. Niittymaki made 26 saves in the shootout loss. Patrick
Sharp recorded his team-leading 12th goal of the season and Joni Pitkanen
registered two assists for Philadelphia, which has dropped three of its last
four on the road.
