PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Brandon Bochenski scored in the deciding fifth round of
the shootout to help the Binghantom Senators earn a 3-2 triumph over the
Philadelphia Phantoms on Sunday. Bochenski beat goaltender Antero Niittymaki
to give his team a 2-1 edge in the shootout. R.J. Umberger of Philadelphia
failed to extend the session when he was then denied by Binghamton's Billy
Thompson. Chris Kelly scored twice, Josh Langfeld had two assists and Thompson
stopped 29 shots for the Senators, who improved to 2-2 in shootout contests
this year. Niittyamki, who turned aside all 11 shots he faced in the second
period, finished with 26 saves in the shootout loss. Patrick Sharp, who tied
the game at 2-2 with five seconds remaining in regulation, had two goals for
the Phantoms, who suffered their first shootout loss of the season. 1
