PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Ryan Steeves and Carl Corazzini both scored in the third
period to help the Hershey Bears end a 16-game losing skid against
Philadelphia with a 4-3 triumph over the Phantoms on Friday. Steeves evened
the score at 3-3 with 3:47 gone in the final stanza and Corazzini, who tallied
on the power play midway through the first, beat goaltender Antero Niittymaki just under four minutes later. Marek Svatos chipped in with two assists
and Peter Budaj turned aside 29 of the 32 shots he faced of Hershey, which
recorded its first victory on Philadelphia ice since February 23, 2003.
Niittymaki gave up two goals on seven third-period shots and finished with 31
saves in the loss. Patrick Sharp had a goal and Mark Murphy recorded two
assists for the Phantoms, who lost in regulation for the first time since
October 17.
