SYRACUSE, NY -- Tim Jackman and Aaron Johnson each scored as the Syracuse
Crunch halted Philadelphia's all-time league-best winning streak at 17 with a
2-1 victory over the Phantoms on Sunday. Jackman broke a scoreless tie 7:51
into the second period and Johnson established a 2-0 cushion on the power play
midway throught the third. Karl Goehring stopped each of the 20 shots he faced
between the first and second periods and finished with 28 saves for Syracuse,
which improved to 6-2-2-3 in one-goal games this season. Antero Niittymaki,
who had his career-high 12-game winning streak snapped, made 29 saves in the
loss. R.J. Umberger insured that his team would not be held scoreless for the
first this season when he scored with 40 seconds left in regulation for
Philadelphia, which lost for the first time since October 17.
